David, with a glisten of sweat on his brow, looks relieved to see the green house. He takes a moment to pause and revel in the extensive collection of flowers and herbs all around him. The room is warm and humid. The plants are divided into aisles and he starts looking for anything that can calm him. The situation that he's in is not the most comfortable. He figures he could calm himself down with a little herbal remedy.
David finds the Skullcap and peppermint.
"Perfect!"
He collects a decent amount of it.
"A quick trip to the kitchen and I'll see what everyone else is up to..."
David leaves the Green House.

Kimber waited quietly outside the green house until the other tribute left, not really feeling in the mood to talk with anyone. She wanted a quiet place that wasn't her room to think. She figured everyone else would be trying to show off their skills in weapons or some other physical endeavors, and the common room was a bit too crowded for her tastes. She had never seen a green house before. All the different plants made the place quite beautiful. She wandered around , lost in thought.

It's later in the day. David's trip to the common room hours ago was interesting. He didn't really get to meet anyone. David enters the green house again. He's happy to be in a well stocked green house where there are so many different plants. As David walks around examining the different plants one particular plant catches his eye.
"A eucalyptus plant. Hmm..." David thinks for a second, then a smile hits his face.
"I think I can pull that off."
David starts ripping the plants leaves off and collecting a bunch of them. He's clearly working on something intense now.
"That parade isn't going to know what hit them."

Kimber was surprised to see the other tribute return. She hung back a bit, watching him. Suddenly, he started tearing off the leaves of a plant, muttering to himself. Kimber was a bit curious at his strange actions, but more so, she grew to like the plants and didn't like seeing them ruined.
"Are you really supposed to be doing that?"

David, sunburned and bit frostbitten, walks into the greenhouse. The sun is setting and the plants are beginning to hide away. David is noticeably shaking. He goes up to an aloe plant and breaks off a bit. He rubs the aloe on his burns. David starts to look for his skullcap plant, but there aren't enough leaves left for him to gather. David notices a poppy plant in another room.
"I can make a tea out of that."
David tries to enter the room, but the door is locked. He notices other plants in the room.
"All of these plants are highly toxic. They must be here for the medical staff... I wonder. I probably can't get away with this."
David looks up at one of the cameras. He's lips are dry and crusted over. "Might as well get my kicks while I'm still alive."
David breaks the window and opens the door. There is no alarm. Curious. He collects a variety of plants an puts them into a sack that's laying around.
"Bella, I'll be seeing you soon."
David hustles out of the greenhouse leaving a mess behind.

Millie looked down at her watch. It was covered in top soil but she could still see it enough to tell that she should have been back to see Decimus an hour ago to plan for the skill showcase...thing. "Just five more minutes," she thought to herself," I need to get this down."
She picked another herb from one of the planters Staring at the herb intently she thought, "umm...angels cloak." She brought what she thought was the medicinal her to her lips but before she could even put it in her mouth she felt a burning as it brushed against her lips.
She threw the herb to her floor. "Gloom weed," she sighed outloud, "If I had actually eaten that I'd be as good as dead." She considered the weed on the floor, "or at least in the bathroom until the games began.."
I really need to find someway to brush up on this," she said shaking the dirt from her hands. "Ok," she said, "Just five more minutes." She looked around at the room, "I kinda wish I could find someone who knew what they were doing to help me with this though."
She looked at her watch. Fifteen minutes had gone by. "Ok," she said aloud, "just five more minutes..."

Mallory wanders into the green house, and takes a deep breath. Smells like home
She notices a redheaded girl staring intently at the dirt. "You find anything interesting?"

"Find anything interesting?" came a female voice from behind Millie. Millie turned around her hands covered in dirt. Behind her stood another girl somewhat around her age.
"Well I was able to find a poisonous herb...that I thought was kind of the opposite..." She looked the other tribute up and down, "guess I need more practice at this. I know the herbs I just have trouble telling them apart in my head sometimes."
"Alright," she said in a cuter voice than she had previously been using, "the name is Millie." She extended a dirt covered hand.

Mallory shakes her hand. "I'm Mallory, nice to meet you!"
She glances at the herb. "I guess I need practice my skills too, because that looks perfectly fine to me."
She squats down to take a closer look. "Huh, yeah its the stripes on the underside that give it away." Standing back up, Mallory sizes up Millie.
"So what district are you from?"

"Uh one actually," she replied withdrawing her hand and shaking off some of the dirt. "You think maybe we could take a closer look at some of these herbs together? I haven't really made many friends around here yet."

Mallory shrugged. "Sure, I'm done training for the day anyway."
She looked around and pointed to a bright red flower. "Any idea what that one is?"

"Um..." Millie extended the um for a full minute before venturing a guess. "Ruby petal?" she said unsure. "It's suposed to be good for poisoning your weapons and um..." she squinted her eyes in thought for a second, "and aiding in digestive issues?"

Mallory grinned. "To be honest, I thought it was a rose, so I think you might have a leg up on me."
She sniffs the flower.
"It sure smells good at least."

"Heh oh well you see," Millie stuttered noticing that flower was in fact a rose, "thats why you have to be careful you know."
"So, um how do you feel about being in the games?" Milie asked trying to make small talk.

Mallory frowned. "We don't have a choice on subject. I mean, my so-called partner hasn't bothered to even try, and look what good that's done us so far."
"What about you?"

"Well you know...District one..Its an honor...yadda yadda." She rambled off. I mean I've been training all my short life for this moment. But I hear in other districts they just force random kids to come and fight. I mean that doesn't seem really fair. They haven't even had any formal training." She paused, "but I mean I'm sure you have tricks up your sleeve."

"I don't know about any tricks, but I do know all about being forced into this game. I didn't ask for any of this, you know?" Mallory's eyes began to tear up. "I-, I'm just a kid. We're all just kids, how can they do this to us? It's not fair!"

Millie was trained in a lot of things but comforting others was not one of them. Millie lightly patted Mallory on the back in what she hoped was a caring gesture, "There...there?" she ventured.
"Look I don't really know how to console people...its just not something that they teach you when they train you to kill people. But hey the last thing you need to do right now is to give in to those feelings." Millie wore a genuine smile on her fast for the first time since getting to the city, "Its the first thing they ever teach you ya know."
Millie paused, " Don't focus on the the negative. I mean I know there A LOT of downside to this and we all have A LOT of life ahead of us but my brother died when I was 10 and he was only 12." Millie met Mallory's eyes, "And he didn't die in the games he died of a disease. It was sudden, it was unexpected, and it was just his time to go.
We all die eventually its just the luck of the draw. In a way we are all setenced to death at the moment just like my brother."
Millie picked the rose from the planter, "The diference is...unlike my brother we have a chance to reverse that fate." She held out the rose to Mallory, "I was wrong. It IS a rose. And sometimes the things you think are the most deadly," she said motioning at the rose, "really aren't."

Mallory smiles through her tears. "You're awfully sweet, you know that?" She takes the rose and places it behind her ear, the wipes way the tears. "No point in crying when it won't change anything I suppose."
She looked around at the sky and tried to gauge the time of day. "It looks like we have some sunlight left, what do you think people do for fun around here?"

"Around here?" asked Millie puzzled for a second, "Oh you mean the city! I'm so sorry I forget that most districts aren't as similar to the capital as mine is."
"Well..." She said looking around, "I mean we could go shopping. I have a bit of money my parents sent with me though I'm not exactly sure if we're allowed to really go outside on our own."
"Buuut..." she added with a devilish grin, "If you wait til it get darks after all the training tonight we could meet back here. Slip out through a back fence and, you know, enjoy the nightlife."
Millie stated up at the clouds for a second,"And even if we ARE allowed to go out." He paused for a second, "it'll still be fun PRETENDING to sneak out."
"So if you're up for it just meet me back here tonight. And if not the stars would be pretty cool through this glass roof. So ya know win win."

Kimber walked into the greenhouse, hopefully to get some down time after the first training day. Upon entering she spotted two girls. They seemed to be having a serious conversation, so she decided to back out as quietly as she could. Maybe she could find somewhere else.

Millie glanced over her shoulder and saw another tribute enter the room and then pause as if they thought they were intruding. Millie waved and smiled to the tribute and then turned to the girl in front of her with the rose behind her ear, "friend of yours?"

Kimber glanced towards the door, trying to decide if it wasn't too late to exit as quickly as possible. She looked to the ground and sighed a little bit, rubbing the back of her neck in discomfort as she walked over to the two.
"Sorry if I interrupted anything important. I can just leave if you want me to. I don't want to cause any trouble."
