Millie made her way up to the roof. "Ok I'm guessing I'm going to have to actually look for her but I guess I'll start at the last place I saw her," she thought to herself.
She scanned the rooftop for the small girl. Honestly, she was so adept at disappearing into the surroundings that she could be anywhere.
She talked kind of funny and Millie wasn't exactly sure if she could be trusted but she was willing to give anybody a chance. If she was going to stand by the values she espoused she at least owed the girl that much.
Millie looked around the rooftop again and it appeared to be completely empty. "Talia?" She asked the empty rooftop.

"No, it's Sophie. And I thought we weren't allowed up here. But I see so many people did anyways."
She pauses for a moment.
"I watched you during training. Very impressive. I'd hate to get into a fight with you."
She sits down at a distance, then scoots in closer.

She expected to meet that girl from the hallway up here but Sophie was there instead. As she complimented here Millie started to watch her face to see if there was any hint of ill intent but she couldn't seem to find any.
After the girl finished talking she scooted closer, "is the something she wants?" she thought to herself.
Millie reached out her hand to initiate a hand shake, "I don't believe we've been formally introduced." She smiled, "I'm Millie Cartwright."

The elevator's pleasant 'ding' announced Talia's arrival. Bright morning sunlight revealed up a spectacular view around the Capitol.
"There you are, Millie! Thank you for conferring with me like this." Talia's bubbly personality made it obvious: She was definitely a morning-person.
"Hello again, Sophie! I am so glad to enjoy your company again.
Millie, let me be frank: Your alliance being constructed is looking to be the most promising in the field. I would like to be a part of it, in return for my skills of providing food and sponsor support."
Talia brushed a rogue strand of hair from her face as she considered her next words.
"When the doors open, other alliances that have been amassing will dominate the field. Anyone that finds themselves alone will be fodder for large groups of tributes. I do not intend to be in that predicament."

As Talia finished her speech of sorts Millie looked between the two girls on the roof with her. Sophie wanted something. That was clear enough and Talia had made it transparently clear that she wanted to join her growing team.
"Ok I don't mean to make any assumptions," she addressed the two girls, "but if either of you are thinking about entering my alliance you have to understand that we do things a little differently."
"This really isn't the place to talk about it," Millie said looking around, "but suffice it to say we're more focused on trust and survival than killing and glory."
Millie sighed, "so that's the deal. Any questions?" She smiled at them genuinely, "I think you could find a nice home with us."

Dolan stood at the doorway to the rooftop, he had arrived just in time to hear the rest of Millie's speech about trust and survival.
Dolan snorted. "You're in an alliance with Decimus aren't you? You honestly trust him with your life? That guy isn't made for survival he's made for killing." Dolan stepped out onto the roof, his brow dark.
"You can't save everyone Millie, and if you think you can you're fooling yourself and everyone you spout this survival bullshit to. You're building an army and as soon as everyone else is dead Decimus will crush you." Dolan snarled the last bit at her.

Quinn wanders onto the roof, but quickly shrinks back when he sees a large gathering of people already up here. Especially Dolan, who slaughtered his visage this morning.
"Oh, sorry. I didn't mean to disturb you guys, I was just looking for a quiet place." He turns to leave, but pauses for a moment.
"...Do you really hate me that much?" He turns to look at Dolan, but quickly glance back towards the door.
"I'm sorry, that was inappropriate...I should know that already. Everyone hates me, is going to hate me, and always has." He sighs and heads to the door.

You have no reason to believe me Dolan," Millie turned to face him, "But Decimus made the choice to move in a different direction than me the day we got here."
"If there's nothing else you want to assume about me I was talking to these to girls," she said. She sighed, "but I have no reason to create animosity with you. Heck I barely know you. Want to sit down with us?" She smiled at him, "I was getting to know these two." He motioned at the two girls, "might as well make it three."

(( OOC: I'm gonna take a different meaning of Quinn's sentence about me hating him since the game maker said that you guys didn't actually see my private session :OOO ))
"I don't want to get to know you." Dolan said "I can't" his voice cracks as he begins to choke up a bit.
"I can't because then I'll care, and then I'll have no chance." Dolan holds back his tears as well turning his head down so that the cameras can't see his face.
Ashamed Dolan turns toward Quinn, and his eyes widen in surprise. "Quinn, I don't hate you man... I... I think I'm just having trouble coping with this" Dolan shook his head. "These games are turning me into something hideous already. But I really don't hate you man, seriously, you seem super cool from what I've seen of you. Scary good at traps too" Dolan says laughing a little.

"Hm," Millie said looking Dolan over, "You know... I think if you let yourself you'd fit in with my alliance better than you think."
Usually Millie had much more to say than this but she didn't want to offput the boy.

"Dolan, when this entire affair began, I was with Quinn in the transport from our district to the Capitol. Since then, he has been inordinately cheerful and outgoing to every tribute we have met. I certainly relate to your despair here, though we can always endeavor to keep an optimistic demeanor!"
Talia sits next to Sophie, giving her a playful nudge with her shoulder.
"Despite the intentions of the Capitol orchestrating these events, we can conduct ourselves with friendship prior to the Games."
The girl from Three provides a sly smile as she withdraws a satchel from behind the wide bench.
"I acquired these muffins this morning from the dining hall, the green ones are Apple-flavored, though I cannot identify the purple or rainbow colored ones. Regardless, please enjoy them with me."
Talia's satchel is passed around the assembled tributes.

Sophie sits quietly, listening to the other, trying to make up her mind whether or not to trust them. She grabs a muffin and bites into it. Her eyes widen and smiles at Talia.
"Thank you," is all she says.

Just then Decimus kicks the muffin basket, fling them off the roof and into nearby tributes. 'So this is where all the cool kids have been hanging out.' announces Decimus, 'Hey why wasn't I invited?' he says with sarcastic puzzled look on his face. His attention then turns to Sophie.
'Sophie!' he says cheerfully, 'There you are! I've looking for you for days!' he spots the muffin in her hand and grabs it. 'and what's this? Gifts from a traitor?' he says glaring at Talia. 'How could you Sophie? I thought we were friends! What kind of friend disappears and then gets all buddy buddy with a lying piece of trash like her?' his expression showing disappointment.
'Sophie, honey, she's deceiving you' he says with a look of sadness. He bends down to brush Sophie's hair. 'She's tricking you with these sweets. Talia will stab you in the back the first chance she gets.' he says soothingly. 'Just like she did to Capitol' he snears looking up at Talia.
'Well you know what happens to people like her? They get what they deserve. They die a painful painful death.' he pauses on those last words.
'You don't want that, do you honey? '

"Wow. What an ass. If there's to be any back stabbing, it will be me digging a dagger into YOUR BACK."
She snatches back the muffin and takes a huge bite.

Decimus' face goes blank and subtle darkness enters his eyes. 'Those are some brave words Sophie, very brave' he says looking deep into her eyes. He stays crouched, inches from her face. 'But the bravery in all those folk stories your mommy told you, doesn't exist in the real world.' he says softly. 'Bravery comes from lies people tell themselves when they're afraid.' his eyebrows raise and his voice fills with pity. 'What I offered you was truth... brutal, honest truth.' he pauses so that Sophie can mull over the words.
'The truth can sometimes be scary and it is rarely ever what we want to hear, but it is always correct and it will never take you by surprise.' he looks over the girl and the muffin before stating at her eyes again.
'This will be my last gift to you, okay honey? This is the rarest gift anyone can be given, it is truth.' he says hanging on the last word.
'In a few days all these friends of yours are going to get very selfish. They are going to get hungry and cold and sad: and then... they are going to look at you and realize that if they don't want to be hungry and cold and sad, they have to... murder you... There won't be anymore muffins Honey, only death.'
'Well that's it! ' says Decimus springing to his feet, 'now everyone I apologize for the intrusion please feel free to return to your fantastic delusional life styles. Au revior!'

As Decimus went to leave the roof he passed by Millie. As he passed her he only had the chance to notice her for a second before she smacked him in the back side of his head with the blunt side of her sword. He went down like a bag of potatoes.
"Decimus," she said coldly standing over him, "I know we're not in the same alliance anymore but we're still from the same district." She reached down to help him up, "don't make our District look like its full of assholes."
She sighed," you at least owe me that much." She turned to take in the whole rooftop, "Now apologize to these girls and...I don't know...find them some new muffins."

"I-I-I'm so sorry," Millie stammered. "Is there anything I can do to make this right?"
She looked around as she thought, "I have some cupcakes stashed elsewhere I could run and get them." She smiled desperately, "I could run and get some for you. It would only take a few minutes!"
"I-I don't know what's gotten into him," she looked confused, "I've known him forever but lately it's like something else entirely had gotten in to him."
"Regardless," she said sternly, "that was totally unacceptable." She walked towards them, "I know it won't mean much." She bowed, "but I'll apologize in his stead."

Dolan had stood by and had quaked with rage at every word Decimus had spoken and had been about to try and tackle the hulking boy from district 1 when Millie's words really got to him.
"He's just like the rest of us. He's scared and alone." Dolan said softly.
"You shouldn't apologize for him Millie. I misjudged you, and for that I am truly sorry." Dolan's anger had disappeared from the surface, but it boiled deep down.
Dolan looked at his hands for a moment before a puzzling expression came over his face. He picked up what looked to be an apple cinnamon muffin and bit into it. He ate it quickly and happily before eventually he moved on to another.
"Y'know Millie" he said with a mouthful of muffin "You might get in trouble for beatin' his ol' noggin with your sword." Dolan laughed and dry bits of muffin shot out of his mouth a little.

"Bahahaha!"
Katie cleared her throat, "sorry, that was rude of me and he is a total dick and then some. However he isn't all wrong. Most people will hit a point where being selfish will pay off well."
Katie paused, "or completely backfire if you're not careful. Not that being in an alliance is pointless of course, but at the end of the day everyone will have to look out for themselves. Usually that means working with the group. However, at the end of the games only one will be left standing, and I don't know about you but my family back home is starving."
Katie paused again, "which maybe makes it less selfish... i guess, but whatever the point still stands."

Quinn was about to speak when Decimus burst in the room. He became uncomfortable.
"Yeah...it's hard to stay completely positive around here. No matter how hard you try to not take these things seriously."

"Heh," the sound poured out of Millie's mouth awkwardly in her embarrassment, "yeah maybe I over did it a little." Millie chuckled awkwardly, "But you know. I didn't hit him because he was being selfish." She sat down next to the spilt muffins, "It's really inexcusable to talk that way to anyone. It doesn't improve your chances of finding an alliance, making friends, or even coming out of this alive."
Millie picked a muffin off the floor shook some of the gravel off of it and took a bite. It was almost as good as a cupcake actually. "Actions like that are just the spiteful actions of a person that is scared and without an alliance he can truly trust," she looked back at the direction Decimus had left in, "He's just trying to alienate himself from everybody now because he thinks there's no one he can trust."
"Why didn't he just come to me?" Millie thought to herself.
She looked back up at the people around her, "so besides the spilt muffins and the crude language AND sudden violence on my part." She smiled, "How are you all doing?"

"Oh yeah he was definitely acting like a big floppy dick alright, and he deserved what he got, especially due to the way he responded to the hit."
Katie suppressed another laugh. "Also I kinda have a weird sense of humor I guess. I also came in on the end there. So I'm not quite sure why he decided to go on that tirade, but he sure isn't doing himself any favors. Why be a target when you don't need to be?"
Katie shrugged, "it's his life and his choice I guess. If we don't agree with that strategy, then let him die trying to do it. However, if he's in your head then I guess he won his game. So we shouldn't let him bother us."
