Derrin absolutely hated eating with his mentor. It was constantly talking about strategy and tactics. Sadly though nothing was really going his way. For starters, none of his shirts stayed on him for very long. Push the slight advantage you have over the others. Training days had not even began but the parade would be later today. The common areas were interesting enough but very few people were ever really alone. He was unsure if people were waiting to from alliances and even then he was still not sure if he even had an alliance with his own district.
He avoided the pool because he felt it belonged to the District four people. The guy from district one was really worrying. None of the other guys seemed to really grab onto him, and to top it all off he still could not really speak with any of the girls. How does one even begin to get someone to trust you when you know for a fact things are going to end up killing each other!
This was vastly harder than he thought it would be. His mentor made it sound easy. Maybe during the training days it would be more clear whom he should at least consider.
He decided to take his time in his the gym. He wanted to continue to work out and thought that maybe most of them would avoid the area and it would be a more private place. When he trained, he thought about all this stuff. He looked older than he was, and he planned to keep it that way. As such he needed the muscle now, not later. Plus he was afraid with all the food he was eating, that he would start to get fat. As such he was once again shirtless but this time at least the gym was a little more appropriate…right?

Anna strides into the weight room, calm and collected as usual. Her flowing hair is constrained to a bun and she has forgone the dress she was wearing on her arrival for something a little more workout appropriate. The workout suit she is wearing is modest, but skin tight.
She nods to the boy in the room and says only, "Hey." Then she takes a seat at one of the machines and begins running through an endurance lift.

As he was lost in thought he used the machine that would face the door because once again that was what he was told. Always see who comes in and always make sure I demonstrate my physical capabilities. Of course that was before a beautiful girl just walked straight into the room. It was his weakness…flat out. Not that he feel in love with them or that he could not kill them…he hoped. Socially speaking he just simply was not equipped to handle such a gender. Men were easy, women were mind ninjas.
She walked in very calm and very collect. It was mesmerizing. He had always thought the district three and five girls were the most attractive but she was gorgeous. Skin tight suit…what could his eyes do but not merely gawk at what was presented before him. He recovered decently quickly but there was only so much he could hide. Especially considering that she nodded towards him when he clearly was staring at her.
Good move Derrin, you are a real pro at intimidation and alliance building. Dumb…only dumb.
She got down on and entrance lift after saying hey when all he could mutter out was…”How hey there…miss.” God damn the world. Are you kidding me Derrin. Earth to Derrin wake the hell up. She will mirk the hell out of you. GG have a good life. Hope it was worth it?
He simply could not hold the weight s up anymore, he purposefully risked hurting himself to lift a bit more than he could handle in case another guy walked in. Decimus was huge in comparison and he clearly though he was the best person ever. He was the top dog at the moment and Derrin needed to be a contender against him. He was strong too and he needed to be.
He got off of the weight and focused on water and a towel to wipe off seat. He blinked a few times looking in the nearby mirror and grabbed a second water. He walked over, set it down near her and simply walked away. She would want water at some point and he did not need to present to her like she was a goddess. Though she may have deserved it. It was just a friendly gesture.
It said hey I do not need to be fighting with you right from the start. It was her move and she could ignore it if she wanted. He started to look up at a broad cast that was showing all of the different tributes and how they had arrived. He worried about his own…he had been super excited and nervious and as such tried to please the crowd as much as he could.
Maybe she would not notice as well.

As Anna begins working through her set, the boy in the room fumbles over his words and nearly drops the weight he is lifting onto himself. She would feel bad about cracking a smile about it if he had not been staring at her like a lost puppy the moment she walked in. She was hoping to run into more than one person here, maybe get a feel for who is getting chummy with who, but at least she got some light entertainment out of the deal.
As she finishes her first set the boy places a water near her. This took her a bit by surprise considering he nearly stopped breathing when she walked in the room. It was amazing that he could actually walk across the room and back. She grabs the bottle and opens it. She could tell it had not been opened yet so there was no danger. She smiles again after taking a long drink. It felt good to have the cold liquid run down her throat. She knew this might be one of the last times she would feel that sensation.
"Thanks," she said, laying back down on the machine. "I wasn't sure if you would be able to walk across the room." She smirks, obviously toying with the boy. She has dealt with boys like him all her life. Yet every time one fumbles over her it makes her feel as confident as her demeanor.

She opened his drink and then well she drank it. It was not a difficult thing to comprehend. Though she did end up commenting on the fact that he was able to walk across the room which startled him a bit. Well she did end up noticing in the end that he was staring at her.
Chuckling back at her comment he merely stated, “Derrin Verittia, District six and to even the playing field, when you find a girl who isn’t addicted to something that clamps down and makes them an android, you tend to enjoy the finer girls in life. If the hunger games gave me anything in exchange for my life, I got to see a few actual pretty girls who can express emotions.”
He figured once he mentioned district six she would think about all of the druggies in that district. He was the only one he knew of that had never touched a drug in his life. He hated his district for that, but he really loved transportation and mechanics. So he supposed the District was just a middle ground for him.
“You are Anna Lansbury, District two which means you could kill me in more ways than I could count on my hands with just one item in this room. If I let you use two hands it may just take my toes as well” Once again another joke. District two was a very strong District for hunger games winners. This made sense. The District one male could boast all he wanted but Anna and her partner would never need to boast. Everyone knew it.
He did not want to get deeply emotional unless she pushed so he figured he would keep things light. He finally looked away from the television when they initial showings were ended and simply sighed. He drank water quickly like someone might have taken it from him and then simply focused and went back to work. It was not to push her out but once again he was nervous and did not want to bother someone.

As William passes by on his way to the weapons range, he takes pause outside the weight room. Noticing Anna and Derrin talking, "Hey, not to interrupt. I don't know how bad things are in district six, but if you need a shirt, I have more than I need, you can totally have a few. Not sure how they'll fit, but lemme know."

Decimus enters the room. He pauses to look at the two sweaty tributes in the room. "Whoa what's happening in here," he grins, "Don't mind me just getting my workout in. I wasn't expecting a shirtless guy in here, what a bonus," he adds looking over Derrin. Decimus moves over to the weight area chooses a bar and sets it on the ground. With one 100 pound plate in each hand he begins adding to the bar. "535 pounds," he announces, "Don't worry this is just a warm-up," a devilish smile appears on his face as he looks for Derrin's reaction.
Decimus gets into postion and starts deadlifting using smooth and calculated actions. His expression disappears as his body goes to work.

Three in the morning the night before the tribute parade Millie had not been able to catch a wink of sleep. "Maybe if I work this feeling off I can get some sleep," she thought to herself. Slowly and casually she made her way down to the weight room. Glancing around she saw some free weights in the corner. "Maybe some squats," she said aloud, "If I'm going to be running around some fancy arena I'm going to needsome stamina in my legs."
With an aire of confidence she strode over to the metal bar sitting on the rack. She slid on two weights of decent size considering her age and lifted the bar to do a squat. The bar lifted a bit easier than normal. "Hm...I guess all that training I did for the games back home has been paying off. I guess a little more weight couldn't hurt," she mused adding a few more weights. "Ok lets see what this body can do!"
She started to pick the weight off the ground when suddenly it overtook her. Her over confidence had gotten the better of her and the weight pushed he to the ground. Her ankle shot out in pain as she hit the ground.
She reached down and felt it in terror. Had she broken it? If so than she was sure to be killed at the outset of the game. She breathed in quickly in a hiss as she touched her ankle. "No," she thought to herself, "I havent't broken it...but its definitely twisted." She knew well enough from this happening before in her training that it would be beter in less than a day but it definitely wouldn't be better by the parade.
Her mind stormed with anger towards herself. If she couldn't pull off the plan Decimus had come up with she'd be letting him down. She'd be letting DISTRICT ONE down. She stood up slowly and winced in pain. She'd just have to do her best at the parade but there was noone to blame but herself. No one but her had ruined the chances of showing off district one in all its glory tomorrow.
As the storm inside of her brewed her expression reached a near catatonic state. Pulling off that trick tomorrow? Hell, she'd be lucky if she could even look the sponsers in the eye after she brought this shame upon her self. Slowly she exited the room leaving it dark behind her.
"No time to sleep," she thought to herself, "I have to find those horses..."

As he was starting up a new set he saw someone poke their head in. It was a boy he had only seen through the television or if he had been around him he must have missed him. William was from district four and he simply shot in, if it was so bad at District six he could offer him a shirt. Derrin’s face flushed out at that and he lowered his weights. To cover it up though he started laugh and ran over to the doorway and called down the hallway, “Hey, I will take you up on that offer. I need plenty of them! Seriously.”
He chuckled to himself but watched as the district one guy moved his way into the room. Decimus was huge, clearly bigger than him despite Derrin’s best effort to look strong. He was like a shadow. He commented on how they were in here and sweaty and once again Derrin flushed…did not even help that Decimus then said there was a shitless guy. As if Derrin was a girl he quickly grabbed his shirt and held it up to his chest.
He was doing warm up weight with weight that Derrin could not even lift himself. There was no way he could out boast Decimus. He shifted his eyes slightly and felt really weak in this room right now.
Suddenly the second girl from district one showed up. Who could be more lovely than the girl here and now…Derrin’s heart was about to blow up by the sheer number of pretty girls and all the embarrassing comments. Derrin waved to them and said, “All of the attractive people can work out together, I’ll excuse myself as to not ruin the good scenery.”
As such he cleared out of the room. However when he heard the loud crash, he turned and poked his head out though the door and noticed the district one girl get hurt. Derrin watched as she slowly walked out and he really did, he wanted to help her. Maybe later…not in front of everyone. She was trying to be strong and he did not want Decimus or Anna to think she was weak.
After that he headed to the next place he felt he should go. His mentor.

Millie entered the weight room to grab her towel. She had left it there when she twisted her ankle.
As she entered the room she passed another tribute exiting the room. She recognized him as Derrin and this was because he was the one that had been waving at the cameras all day.
"Hi," she said politely as she passed him, " My names Millie. Did you get a good work out?"
