"Yeah that's fine," she said not breaking eye contact, "I have places to be that don't include guys who treat you like a princess only to throw you to the wolves the next second. And all just to keep up good appearances to the other tribute from district one so you could take him away with you."
Millie smiled, "but thankfully there's no one like that around here. So I think I'll stick around!"
"Besides," Millie mused, "I'd like to meet these friends of yours." "Who knows?" She said extending a hand to help him up, "I might know one of them."
Her eyes narrowed for a second while she said that but then she smiled and helped him up, "Gosh! I just have so much fun up here!"

He blushed, visibly flustered as she took his hand and helped him up, but cocked a questioning eye when she said she might know who he was meeting. He thought he'd been pretty forthright up to this point. He guts up and musters the strength to speak. A whisper barely squeaks out of his mouth, "you're wrong about Decimus though." His bravado crescendos with the successful admission, he turns to the rest of the group, barely containing his trembling self. Adrenaline still coursing through his body. "So what are all the 'cool kids' doing? Smoking? Haha." He spies the kid from the hallway, now sporting an eye patch. "Arg matey, and who might Ye be? A member of the Black Ball Line perhaps? Hehe, no, but really the patch is pretty..." he searches for the right word, "distinguished?"

The aching silence returns, "hey I'm sorry for spoiling the mood. If you see Harmony can you tell her to come find me." Turning to face Millie he adds, "sorry, I'll leave you alone now." His head hangs slightly as he drolls back to the ladder, and climbs down. He pauses for the briefest of moment as his head is about to sink below the roof and finally meets Millie's gaze. A single tear blinks into existence in the corner of his eye as he passes from view.

Millie sees the single tear drop from William's eye. "I know I've been a bit cliched today," Millie thought to herself, "but that was downright cheesy."
Millie looked around at the people on the roof with her. "It's not like I really did anything to hurt him?" She said aloud to no one in particular, "Right?"
She paused for a second as if waiting for someone to respond but before there was enough time for someone to have opened their mouth Millie responded as if they had chastised her for her actions.
"Damnit!" She said aloud as she turned to follow William. "I'll be right back guys," she yelled behind her. As she ran after the melodramatic tribute.
"William. Wait up."
Where had he gone?
