Wren jumped down as he was finally noticed by Dante, Gwen, and Val. "Oh, sorry! I was just admiring your work. I wasn't entirely sure how this thing worked but didn't want to interrupt you. I know concentration is important during these types of things. Actually, I've been looking around for a place to practice my strategic skills. Mind if I take a stab?"
Wren noticed Sharlot wander across the room but decided not to follow her. He approached the table Dante had been at. He chose three tributes at random, sent out some mutts, and decided to see if he could outsmart them. 0YXxi_PV1d8+21d8+2

Wren smiled. That wasn't too difficult. Wren approached Dante and the girls. "Can you tell me more about this game you're talking about?"

Gwen grinned at Val's response to her proposal, "Perhaps we shall see where we end up? I'm up for a game, Dante!" Gwen took note of Sharlot's entrance and eyed the game she played. Good to know she hadn't completely scared her off after their dance the other night. Gwen snuck over to where Sharlot was playing her game, "Care to join us?" she said in a comically seductive voice.

Val's playful shove helped get Dante's mind off the way he'd look across the districts that evening. "Alright, enough stalling," she added, "who did you pick for your cyber team last game?" He glanced back at the remainder of his satisfied, simulated team; the miniature tributes were dancing and giving each other high fives. He looked at Linda questioningly. "The holograms are projected in a way that follows your face, Dante." Explained Linda. "Ahh, that makes sense." Nodded Dante. "So nobody can see alliances we may have planned." "Right, and to allow for more than one player on the table. If you Tribs are up for some competition...?" She looked at Valeria with a raised eyebrow. "Tell you what, Val. Win this game and I'll tell you who was on my team before. Lose, and you tell me why I woke up with hearts, rainbows and..." He paused, considering his words. "...drawings of certain body parts all over me this morning." Linda's laugh howled through the room. "Anyone else want in on this? Just tell me the game you want, I'll make it happen!" Her fingers hovered over the keys excitedly.

Ka-Chunk Val was sure she had just heard her insides drop in embarrassment. "That was clearly and totally a 'you're nice but...' response," she thought uncomfortably to herself. "Why did I even offer that in the first place, you idiot. You were trying to make her feel better and all you did was lump yourself win with creepy eyed Wran over there."
Val snapped out of her self pity to notice Gwen talking to Sharlot, a girl hadn't had much interaction with. She had seen her at the banquet but not much else.
"What had she been doing to the system," she thought and examined the board. Sadly it was all just bleeps and bloops and shiny lights to her so hopefully it hadn't been anything TOO radical.

Wren felt out of place and left the Game Room.
"Enjoy your game, guys."
He felt the accidental weight of those words as he left...

She grinned wryly, "You ain't gonna win the simulation by being in another room ya know."

When she first arrived in the game room, she noticed that many of her fellow tributes were playing games, or examining quietly. For a while she sat and just wondered if she could join in. She tried to peek over Dante's shoulder to see what he was doing inconspicuously.

Without being noticed, she snuck back to the side, and noticed that there were stations where one could play against peacekeepers in tactics. The peacekeepers had each been trained in such a way that they would mimic the strategies of previous winners of the game. Each and every victor had been psychoanalyzed and probed so that they could "recreate" it to the best of their ability. She doubted that they could ever really guess, but it might be fun.
She walked up, and challenged the year 1 victors imitator. Tactics QNwyfQqJ1d8+21d8+2

She didn't do as well as she had wanted, but she managed to scrape out a victory... She would have to get used to these games. She walked up to the terminal against the victor of Year 2. A different "arena" and a different person... how would she do.

She was destroyed. Her confidence shaken, she had barely made it through the simulation of the Cornucopia before she was killed. Her avatar on screen dying a slow death... It didn't exactly breed confidence. Numb and in a daze she walked to the last of the simulating peacekeepers.

And just like that, she absorbed everything she had learned, everything she had seen, and it all came together. She finished this match with no injuries, no casualties, and with a surplus of supplies. The peacekeeper across from her was slackjawed and confused. She felt good, so good. Good enough to go talk to the other tributes.
She walked up to Val and Dante, "Could I get a game in?"

Val looked over at the source of the new voice
A younger girl with girly hair stood expectantly in front of them. She didn't remember ever meeting her before. "One of the ghosts perhaps," she thought to herself.
"Of course you can join in," she replied with a grin, "The more the merrier!"
Val outstretched a hand in greeting, "I'm Valeria but most people just call me Val. I don't believe we've really met."
She looked over her shoulder at Dante, "By the way Steady we need to get this show on the road! This days almost come to an end!"

Cal was in awe of the technology in this room. AR simulators to simulate battlefield conditions, terminals for reading up on historical strategies, micro-variations that can overlay the simulations. This is leagues beyond what could have been scrapped together in his home town, leaving him feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Spotting a group standing over a holo-board, now would be as good as time as ever to reach out. He walked forward to find a long, awkward pause.
"Uh...hi? Are you guys playing a game?"

"Uh...hi? Are you guys playing a game?" "ANOTHER ghost has finally shown their face?" Val thought. This was getting interesting. Even though she was sure he had just heard her introduce herself to the other tribute she thought she would at least extend him the same courtesy, "Hey there, My name's Valeria but most people call me Val. I don't think I've seen you around yet." "Oh and," she said looking around at the small army of training tributes slowly forming around her, "we should REALLY probably get the ball rolling here. So suit up Ghost." She finished giving the new kid a friendly slap on the back.

A little taken back the slap, he wasn't sure what game involves suiting up.
"The name's Cal, I've just been getting my bearings."
Looking over the rest of the group, he shrugs and goes to throw on a suit.
After a few minutes he comes out, trying to figure if these should be as tight in some places as it is.
"So... what game is this, exactly?"

Linda had been busily inputting the calculations for a massive Hunger Games simulation.
"All right, Tribs!" Her voice rose across the crowded room. "Sit yourselves down at a terminal and begin the simulation. Last tribute standing is the victor!"
How to Play: Roll as many D8's as you want as you maneuver your team around the Games. The closest player to 21 Without going over is the winner. If your rolls end up higher than 21, you have overextended and your team is wiped out.
Players with tactics bonuses may add their bonus to their rolls.

"Oh man, I'm sorry," Val laughed, "I meant that figuratively." She looked him up and down, "It accentuates you...generously though." "Don't you think Gwen?" she grinned playfully. Val shot Gwen a look that attempted to convey, "don't tease him TOO bad..."

Taking a deep breath, Dante began controlling his simulated tributes around the field. He only had three allies this game, so every move was critical to avoid traps, collect food and occasionally fight other tributes.
Gotta be aggressive sometime, I guess.

Dropping herself down at a console Val looked over the array of buttons and options in front of her.
She felt bad about going after any of her friends as a first move so she instead started by having her troops work on creating weapons that would automatically backfire.
Her plan was to leave them around the playing field to trick teams into assuming they were sponsor gifts.
"But then," she grumbled to herself, "I'm gonna have to go after SOMEONE. Maybe one of the new kids."

The weapons were almost completely indistinguishable from any normal weapon. "Score!," she thought to herself, "although this isn't the first time I've had to falsify evidence."
She picked the most optimal locations leaving the weapons scattered about the field and sent her team out.
"Now to figure out my next plan of attack," she thought to herself as she studied the map.
