A tall scrawny boy walks into the common area with a collection of treats in his arms, possibly pilfered from his room. His light blue eyes are bright beneath his shaggy fine chestnut hair as he looks for a place to sit. He finds a bench and places himself down with a light plunk and sets his treats next to him. Looking through the pile he perks up a bit and removes what looks to be a jelly filled pastry. He looks about for any others but not seeing any he happily munches on his treat content to wait for others to appear.

Moments later, a stout black-haired boy of about 13-14 strides in. Eyeing the pastries and the boy happily muching away, he takes a seat in the middle of the bench. "Decadent...", he says whilst surveying the room. "Where'd you get those?"

While the two boys from district 12 and 4 stare off at the pastries, A young girl sauntered into the room with a nice pile of fruit in her hands. Harmony grabbed the chair across from the boys and placed the fruit from her hands into her lap. Her blond straight hair reaching down to her shoulder kept dropping in her face. Getting frustrated, Harmony grabbed a piece of string wrapped around her wrist and tied her hair back in a single ponytail. Quite content with her fruit, Harmony sat back and was amused by the boys' trance with the pastries.

Anna walks gracefully through common area, her auburn hair flowing behind her. She sees the children eating pastries and has a brief break of character as she eyes them. You can tell by looking at her, that she likely hasn't eaten a pastry for years. The flash lasts no more than a moment and she continues on to the elevator to her room.

The boy from four was shorter than he was but Dolan was unsure as to whether or not he was older. He silently gestures to his pile of pastries as the boy from 4 gazes at them hungrily. When asked where he had procured the delicious treats he merely smiled and continued to eat. A girl with arms full of fruit entered as well and Dolan's eye lit up at her entrance. She pulled up a chair and sat watching him and the boy from 4. Dolan smiled and held up a pastry toward her.
"I'll trade you if you're willing"
Dolan had never had much fruit in his life besides berries and raisins and the exotically colored treats looked fantastic. He could of course make a trip up to his room and request them himself, but he figured that making some kind of effort to make emotional connections with the others here would benefit him. Another girl with beautiful hair walks through the room and Dolan catches her out of the corner of his eye for a moment, but she only lingers a moment.
Too skinny Dolan thinks to himself but then laughs inwardly at how he must look to the others being scrawny himself. But he knew that his being skinny was nothing important to his chances, strength was not where is skill lies.

"Of course, have you ever had an apple before...they're amazing!" Harmony quickly tossed the boy from District 12 an apple from her collect of fruit. "What's your name anyways? Mine's Harmony. I'm from District 4."

The boy from district 4paws a green, fish shaped treat from the pile; smiles to himself and turns his gaze to the other boy, listening intently.

Post by Derrin Verittia on Jul 26, 2013 12:02:34 GMT -6
Derrin could not lie that he had wanted to show up earlier than everyone else in the common room, but being pulled aside by his mentor he was told to work in a way that would boast his physical performance over the others. Most of the kids had been skinny or poor who get picked into this and so dominance was key. After the last hunger games Derrin had informed the community he would volunteer for the next one, he did not have a family and he was one of the better shape kids. He had worked in the assembly line and was lean and muscled, his mentor had fed him for the past year and he had been training. Sure he was not from district one, two, or four but still he hoped to at least catch their attention as a possible contender.
As he walked into the room he had a bit of a blush of him. There were girls here after all…
He was shirtless. His medium sized lean muscles were showing and to be fair…he was really embarrassed. Minus the slight pink on his face he hoped no one would notice. He was afraid of all of them. Someone in this room would probably kill him at a moment’s notice once the bell rang. He raised his shoulders high and continued to walk in with a more confident air about himself.
He smiled and walked in with a hardy laugh, “Hello Future murderers and murdered!”
He stretched like he was told to before he put his plate down. It was full of steak and Ribs and the aroma was easily wafting into the room. It was an enormous plate, larger than any one person could eat easily but he did not care. “I was told to eat this place out of house and home to try and hurt their food supply."
He grinned happily and looked around the room. “Please help yourselves!”
O god…o god…now they will be looking at me. Keep it cool man, nothing in the world can tell them you are super nervous. He felt like he was holding it up well. He avoided looking to long at the girl. That would ruin it. He was terrible with girls. So much so he avoided his other district member when they needed to meet and speak about what the deal was with them and at least minimally figure out the parade thing.
He hated social stuff with a passion but here he was and he would be the life of the party. He wanted people to look up to him. “Meat for pastries and Fruit, Open to trade!” He closed his eyes and smiled genuinely. Food was hard where he was from and he assumed the same of the others. Who could resist really? “Handouts for those who have nothing to trade, just speak to me Derrin Verittia District 6, transporting all your meat needs!” he pointed his thumb back at himself and waited to see if anyone would accept his commercial advertisement and maybe even get a laugh out of it.

Dolan smiled at the girl and handed her the pastry in exchange for the red fruit. The boy from 4 took a piece of pastry as well, albeit a fishy shaped treat, Dolan didn't really want that one anyway.
"My name's Dolan, nice to meet you Harmony, although I wish it were under better circumstances."
Dolan gave her a sad smile, and then took a bite of the apple. his eyes widened with pleasure as he bit into with new vigor.
"This is unbelievable! Pastries are great but this is... something else!" Dolan exclaimed.
He caught himself after a moment and settled down, he didn't want to seem so naive and eager in front of potential sponsors. Or maybe he did? He wasn't sure yet, he hadn't met with his mentor or the girl from his district. So far he was alone with only his own thoughts and ideas as to how he should try to get sponsors and alliances.
Then the shirtless guy showed up and greeted them.
Dolan's eyes darkened and his brow furrowed. This one was already playing the game. He wasn't sure why he was upset, he knew that this would happen and he promised himself he wouldn't blame any other tributes for trying their best to win, but he felt betrayed in some way. Unsure of how he should react to the shirtless meat bearing tribute Dolan tried his best to seem generous and forthcoming.
"Sure, I'll trade with you" Dolan smiled gently at the boy without a shirt.

Post by Fenlen Hux on Jul 26, 2013 16:36:39 GMT -6
Fenlen Hux hesitated outside the entrance. He could hear some of the others talking to each other and trading food, and he wanted to figure out how to introduce himself before walking in.
As he moved to take a step, a relatively muscular guy strode past him with what looked like a mountainous pile of meat. Startled for a moment, he hung back as the boy entered the room and greeted the others with, "“Hello Future murderers and murdered!” "Geez," Fenlen thought to himself as he listened to the boy's confident laugh, "My 'hullo' is never going to top that. Whatever. No use in waiting."
The red head walked in slowly as he heard the boy introduce himself as Derrin. He sat down quietly near the others as Dolan smiled at Derrin and offered to trade. After a few moments of watching the others' conversation, Fenlen push back his reddish hair and offered up his "Hullo," almost forgetting to add, "I'm Fenlen from District 10."
Before waiting for anyone to acknowledge him, he figured he should try to seem social despite his nerves. Isn't that what everyone was doing? He moved his hand toward Derrin's plate of meat. "I've worked with cattle all my life... but I've never seen meat like this. Nice haul."

William stops mid-bite and sets his fish cake down, glances the new arrival up and down. "Welp... I think I'm just going to head to the pool." he annouces to everyone and no one."Thanks for the snack!" Turning to Harmony he continues, "I'll CATCH you later, back at the room." He turns and leaves without waiting to see if anyone laughs at the terrible pun. He avoids eye contact with, but passes imperceptably within Darrin's personal space, as he leaves.

As soon as he walked in and sat down another person already decided to get up a leave. Derrin waved at him with a rib still in his mouth and noticed that the two of those people must be from the same district. Well how nice to have actually spoken to your person.
They traded and got free hand outs and pretty soon everyone was just socializing. Sure not everyone was here but hey at least some of them were nice. He shifted a little in his seat, stretched, and then leaned back.
He was a downer when it came to everything but he figured these last few happy days were the only ones they really had left. Derrin however smiled at the red head and said hello. After that though he felt he had been social enough and also knew that he did not want to overstay his welcome. Being too social was also a bad thing apparently.
He stood up but also left the plate. Took three more ribs and then said, “Well I’ll see you guys around.”
And with that he left the room.
The second he got out of the room, he leaned against the wall and breathed out heavily.
“That…was so hard…” He took a few breaths and quickly retreated to his room. He would need to get used to stuff like this.

Decimus strolls into the room taking a quick breath to analyze all the faces in front of him. "Hmmm getting a little chummy in here are we?" he says scanning each tribute for their reaction. He saunters over to the girl from District 4 with delight in his eyes. "Well don't mind if I do!" he says, grabbing Harmony's apple. "Well looks like the Hunger Games started in here 15 years ago, did they ban food in your towns?" he says just before taking a deep bite into the fruit, juice spilling down his neck. He wipes his chin and stretches to show off his tall muscular physique. "Well just remember, your fellow tributes might be having a friendly little chat with you, or they may just be figuring out how easy you'll be to kill in the field." With no immediate response, he averts his attention to Devvin, "That's a lot of meat you got there, the ladies must love you." he winks. Before anyone has a chance to think Decimus waltzes his way to the front entry. Well this is too much action for me. I best be going, Toodaloo." and he exists to the pool.

Alona had slipped into the room for a moment to take stock of the group around her. A few were trying to make friends, or at least giving the pretense of doing such. She almost found herself stepping forth to take part in the bits of food that were being passed around. In the not so distant future, she doubted any of this would be readily available. She couldn't bring herself to step forward though and instead, leaning back against the wall, trying to melt into the scenery Her mother had whispered to her before she left that she needed to make friends in order to survive. She didn't think she could make friends only to stab them in the back though. It didn't exactly seem like the friendliest thing to do.

"Well that's ok, I didnt want that one anymore anyways." Harmony sat forward in her seat and pulled out another apple from her back pocket and took a big bit out of it.
Many different personality came and went while Harmony sat and enjoyed her fruit. However, that Derrin boy caught her by surprise. The moment he walked into the door she could feel a different vibe coming from him that she could tell that the other tributes couldnt. Unable to pinpoint the exact feeling she felt, Harmony quickly switch the subject in her head.

A whistling boy enters the common area. He is short and scrawny with a mess of yellowish-blonde hair on the top of his wide head. Though, after realizing that everyone has fallen silent, Quinn stops in his tracks. He looks around the room, eyes Derrin with a little bit of confusion, then awkwardly leaves through the door he came in through.

Natalya quickly walks through the doorway and comes to an abrupt halt. Her cool green eyes narrow as she surveys the crowd before her. She takes in the room, the people, and the decadent food that was provided. She desperately wanted to leave but hunger got the best of her. She quickly grabbed a couple pieces of bread and turned--her long blonde hair swishing as she walked-- back towards the exit.

Dolan, sat for a while longer watching people come and go. He knew for sure that he didn't like the boy from district 1, but he wasn't sure if it was because he was cocky, or because he had reason to be, the guy was ripped.
However this was not why he decided to get up and leave. Dolan had already begun to feel protective of some of the people in the room without even knowing them well. He needed to clear his head.
"Feel free to keep the treats, it's been a pleasure meeting all of you."
Dolan smiled, hardened his heart, and left to find his mentor and maybe the girl from his district.

Strolling in with a soft bounce in her step, Talia wastes no time ordering a plate of vegetables and breads from the kitchens.
Food in hand, she pads around the room to meet and energetically greets the other tributes one by one. Her introductions change slightly, but most begin with a clearly rehearsed introduction of:
"Salutations, fellow tribute! I am Talia Zinten from District 3."
A genuine smile illuminates her face as she takes your hand in greeting.
"Despite the unfortunate circumstances that conspire toward our meeting today, I hope to bear no resentments between us in the coming days."
Having completed her circuit of the room, Talia rejoins Sophie Parker at her table.
"Hello again, Sophie! You mentioned you hail from District Five; I acquired a thriving admiration for the wondrous machinations of their power plants. As I represent District Three, our families depend on each other to keep things operating smoothly throughout Panem."

David, a somewhat thin pale older male, walks into the room. There is already a hustle and bustle of people meeting each other. David walks in with a calm smile on his face, slowly absorbing the things around him. He decides to take a seat next to Sophie and Talia.
"We've got some big guys around here huh?" David says, not really expecting a reply.
"Hi, I'm David from um- District 11." David isn't quite focused on either Sophie or Talia but still has that smile on his face. He looks away contently.
"Did you guys know that if you eat enough apple seeds that you can actually poison yourself? yup, it's the amygdalin."
David turns and smiles at the girls again. He seems content and... aloof. He then gets up to walk around, with no particular task in mind. Just looking.

"Did you see that boy from district one, he's RIPPED..."
Harmony replied back to the boy from District 11 with a slight grin on her face. Harmony was sitting just across the way from the boy.
"Nice to meet cha' David, I'm Harmony...Harmony Locket from District 4."
With a quick glance at the apple Harmony was eating, she looked back up at the David and remarked, "Well...that's a bummer!"
She looked back at the apple and took one more big bit before throwing it into the trash bin at the door. The apple tapped the side of the bin before making it all the way in. It wasn't a perfect shot but it still went in. "Looks like I might need to practice my throwin' before these games" Harmony said with a little chuckle.
