Alicia and Taylor were gone. Ox couldn't believe it. The one person he wanted to keep alive in the arena and she was dead. What had happened? Who had done her in? Ox saw her picture and name in the sky and tears flowed down his dark cheeks.
Ox bellowed loudly amongst his fellow tributes thrusting his axe high into the sky as he cried out to his fallen District partner.
"She had a child you bastards! SHE HAD A DAUGHTER WHO NEEDED HER!" Ox bellowed. "YOU BASTARDS! You fucking bastards." he sobbed sliding to his knees and crumpling into himself holding a hand over his eyes.
He remembered when Alicia had stayed in bed with him on that last day, or played with his hair or when he promised her that he would see her win this thing. He promised her he would see her through, he could have at least died before she did, he could have protected her.
"I never should have left her." Ox said brokenly.

As soon as he heard the cannons and saw the names Arnie expected what came next. Ox was stricken with grief. Watching as Ox fell to his knees Arnie couldn't help but think of a way to console him. Walking behind Ox, Arnie set his hand on the man's shoulder and put his head down in silence.
"I'm sorry Ox, I wish we could have done something more to help her. The best we can do now is figure out what happened and do our best to make it all right before we follow her." Arnie never expected to lose a friend in these games, it was a lot harder than he thought it would be.

Ox stood up, his eyes dark and turned to Arnie. He gave him a big bear hug lifting Arnie up off of the ground and then setting him back down.
"Thanks Arnie... You're right. We will make this right. But first we have to save the friends that we have left."
Ox turned towards the hovercraft and grunted.
"We should head north. If there is any chance that Seth and Ayla are still in trouble, we need to try and reach them there. If we find the Schumackers well... You know what we have to do... We should target Anton first if it does come to that, focus the effort." Ox held out his hand to Arnie.
"You with me man?"

Arnie reached out and grabbed Ox's hand. "I'm on board, let's head north and see what there is to see. If it comes to fighting we should do so, otherwise we might want to take a second to assess the challenges and use the other tributes to make it through unscathed."
Arnie felt a strong Fellowship with Ox. Of all the people he met during these games he was one of his most trusted. Ringing in his ears, Arnie could almost hear a triumphant melody as he considered their next moves.
With a smile Arnie took a knee and said in a calming tone, "You have my scythe."

The amount of testosterone and brotherhood Jaffe was seeing was a little unnerving, especially to see it coming from two matured men like Arnie and Jorn. She shook off the feeling though and began to digest the news from the cannons.
"This doesn't make sense," she said, trying to grab Jorn and Arnie's attention. "Shouldn't someone have died in the North where Seth, Tristan, and the Schuhmachers are? Why is everyone dying to the west? Do you know who's over there? Did we just watch an alliance fall apart?"

Ox noticed Jaffe for the first time since she had crept up on them. He almost jumped but he just started a little and turned toward her.
"That's a good point... I really wish I knew what was going on.." Ox said confused.
"I just don't know where everyone is..." Ox guessed that was the point of all the switching around with the hovercrafts. The game makers wanted to incite fighting. They must be getting bored.

"Sorry!" squeaked Jaffe, she didn't realize such a large intimidating boy could be so jumpy. "I wonder if it would be worth the effort to send a Jabberjay over there... Does anyone have one of those birds lying around?"

'I have a Jabberjay...' Olive said from the tree she'd slept in... but I'm not going to waste it on the north since they actually seem to be just fine, no one died right? I don't care much for everyone else, not like I'll start to kill people or anything but honestly the only person except Ashton here (she gave him a shy smile) that I am interested in finding is Derrick, so if you guys happen to know where he is I'd be happy to send the jabberjay there and you guys can all add on to whatever you want that tower to know okey? I think we need to work together and try to know where everyone is as honestly as possible otherwise the game-makers just win... but that doesn't mean I'm going to give up my only Jay...

Jaffe perked up once she heard that Olive had a Jabberjay. "Lovely!" she exclaimed, "I totally wouldn't want to look at the North either, obviously nothing is happening there." she hoped she didn't seem to dumb and uncool in front of the older girl. "Jorn, Arnie, you were with Derrrick. Where is that guy?"

"Olive! Olive!" shouted Jaffe running back from the hovercraft. "Derrick went to the west! IF you want to check on him now is your best chance!"

"Thank you, I'll the Jbberjay, we'll see what it says!!" she shouted back, "Good luck kiddo" she gave Jaffe her best smile before focusing on Ashton again
