Ashton sat by the water, dipping his foot in every once in a while, not keeping it in very long...because--well--shark. So he resigned himself to just letting himself enjoy the water every couple of minutes. He'd seen the canon and saw the face: the face of his District mate--Taylor--who'd given up his own life for his sister. Ashton had only one thought going into the games--keep an eye on his District partner. Not protect them--that was too much work--but at least observe--maybe give a helpful nudge if the need arose. But--there went that plan. Ashton couldn't even succeed in that.
He scrubbed his hands through his hair harshly, feeling his blunt nails scrap at his scalp before sitting back and looking to the others, "Now, are we gonna keep holding hands and skipping in circles here? Because there's the rather large fish that wants to play tag with his teeth."

"I'm not very fond of this setup... there's not a lot of lakes, rivers, or ponds in District 3 that I can remember. I'm not sure I even know how to swim. (sigh) Unless someone is amazing at fighting, I think we're all going to have to roll the dice on this one... metaphorically speaking." She looked over her partner Alistair. "I think we might be in big trouble this time."

"It's gonna be fine. This is one of those things where we just need to move forward on our own. The game makers must just be done with our kumbaya-ing through these levels." Truthfully, Al was terrified but god knows he was never going to show it. He was the realist, the rock when things got hard. He couldn't freak out because then his District mate would freak out. And there was a time and place to freak out. Now and here was certainly not the time or place. "Heard you poke it's eyes if it comes for you," he joked as he peered into the water, chuckling. He turned to Jaffie and rested his hands on her shoulders. "This doesn't mean I'm just abandoning you, I'll just be waiting on the other side, yeah? We're gonna be fine."

Olive heard Ashtons comment, she still wasn't sure if she could trust him but at least he hadn't hurt her so far, and he did say he wanted her in the same tower... 'I think we should stay together, I'm glad everybody could meet without anyone killing eachother but now it's probably time to split up, I can't speak for you guys but for me I'd be okey with sticking to the couples we came in, at least we've spent a little more time with them... so what do you say Ashton, let's make it through this darn hole of water and keep going up in our tower? it kind of feels like 'our' tower doesn't it? I mean we've been here the whole time and so far we've done okey, I don't want to give that up even if the risk of others attacking us is just as big anywhere' she said with a faiding smile towards Ashton, she gave him a bump on his arm and said 'come on, let's go'

"Our tower...yeah we have." Ashton rubbed the back of his neck, grinning over at Olive, "At the very least, we can find better ways to climb cliffs, eh?" he knocked her shoulder before grinning. "With you to the end of the line Olive. And although these two and the others are alright, they're not my Tower partner. I'll stay with you...you'll probably need my brawn." Ashton joked.

somehow he managed to get a smile out of her even in a situation like this, 'Deal, together 'til the end, or at least as far as we can make it' she said and gave him her best smile and a quick hug
