"I think I should go first," said Jaffe, taking the lead. She cautiously begins to move past the sleeping dragon.

Seth was grateful for the hovercraft. He didn't think he could make it up another flight of stairs. When he landed the first thing he heard was a deep snoring. Finally, an obstacle the REQUIRED being slow. Seth quietly crawled across the stone chamber.

The dragon woke to the sound of Seth's body dragging across the stone tiles. It was angry. It immediately began thrashing and blowing puffs of fire.
"Shit! There's no way we're going to be able to kill it. How are we going to get through here?"
Seth thought back to the Skill Session when he had called out maneuvers to his training team to get across the gymnasium safely. If they worked together they could use Seth's combat tactics to get out of here alive. Seth spotted a stone barrier to the left.
"Wait for the dragon to blow it's fire and then head to the barrier on my mark!" he commanded the others. He had only just met them, but he hoped they could follow orders. Seth pulled out his weapon to provide some covering fire.
"3... 2... 1... Let's move!"

Kiki was moved by the Seth's unwavering courage in face of such terrible odds. She raised her blow dart to the Dragons face. She was not sure if such a weapon would have any impact on a creature like this, it seemed immense and armored.

As expected, the dart dantily bounced off of the dragon's head. The beast didn't even seem to notice. She loaded the weapon again and tried once more.

Using the blow dart was a dumb idea, Kiki finally deduced. She would have to try something a little more clever to save her self from another round of burns. Instead she made a run for the exit, waiting for the beast to see her and shoot it's fiery breath. Right as the flames were about to singe her she combat rolled behind a rock.

The execution was flawless and the dragon seemed irritated that it could not harm Kiki. She waved to her tribute mates to take the same path. "Over here!" she shouted.

"Fuuuuck me!" Al yelled as the dragon roared to life and blew fire at the group of tributes, barely missing Al. His sullen demeanor had, for a better word, been knocked out of him and he took off, sprinting for his life. But as fast as he was, the dragon was faster. He had to attack. Oh my god he had to attack. Pulling out his crossbow and adjusting the notch as Ashton had instructed, Al raised the weapon towards the beast.

Fire flooded the cave as Al's shot barely missed. The beast narrowed its eye at the boy and stepped forward, releasing a loud roar and releasing more fire from its throat. Al barely missed the majority of the flames but he could physically feel the hair on his arms burning. He fell on top of a rock, knocking the wind right out of him. He scrambled to his feet while heaving and attempting to get air moving back through his chest again. Turning towards the dragon, he took aim with the arrow again, trying not to let his fear take hold.

Jaffe took a second to admire her handy work before turning around to observe the others cross. She watched in horror to see Seth haphazardly drag his body across the ground. "What the heck are you doing!" she said. The dragon woke with a roar, and the arena turned to chaos. Seth gave what Jaffe thought was a valiant rally cry before almost hitting himself with his own weapon. "Get it together people!" she said smacking her forehead in astonishment.

Whoosh more flames erupted from the beast as Al flew back to avoid the burns, landing hard on the ground right by Seth. He groaned a bit before struggling to his feet, slipping a couple of times before he was able to hold himself upright. "Jaffie, stay there damn it." He pulled the bow back out and raised it one more time, raising it towards the eye of the dragon and inhaled deeply to calm his nerves. A shaky hand wouldn't do shit for him now like Ashton had said, he needed to hit something and god he needed it now. "I swear to god if I become a s'more after this...," he muttered to himself as he took aim.

Al had just about enough of being tossed around the cave like a goddamn rag doll trying to avoid the flames. Fuck it, if he was gonna die, he was going to at least give the dragon everything he's got.
Ripping his token out of his pocket, he tossed it into the arena. No one needed to hear or see his last words about freedom to be himself and shit. No one really needed to know about his poor pathetic problems because he had acquired much bigger ones over the past week. He wrote it and that's all that mattered.
Without the token, he was able to secure himself one last shot. Before he took his very life into his own hands, he turned to face his District mate on the other side of the cave. "If this is as far as I can go, I'm sorry. Jaffie, listen. if I die, I need you to take my bow and you're going to win the whole damn thing and that's all that matters right now. Is that clear?" Barely waiting for an answer, Al turned and fired his arrow.

Al roared as the dragon nailed his body with its fiery breath, burning his exposed skin and catching fire to his shirt. Al dropped and rolled in the dirt to put the fire out. He crawled towards the other side when the beast was distracted, he couldn't muster the ability to stand as he crawled out to where Kiki and Jaffie were, collapsing once he was out of reach of the dragon. His skin was scorched and even the presence of air made him wince. The pain washed over him like a flood of burning lava, which ironically was flooding the West Tower at that very moment and he was barely conscious at that point. Slowly he pointed a finger at Jaffie, trying to keep the mood light. "See? Nerdy white boys. Large things with scales. We've been here before. In this tower, no less. I thought I learned my lesson."

"I've only got one shot at this…" Seth said making his way back to the chamber where the dragon lurked. Seth found a good vantage point and aimed his blowdart. "One lucky shot to the eye should stun it long enough for me to crawl through here."

The dart sailed through the air and pierced the dragon's eye. Seth couldn't believe it! He watched the dragon stagger back into the wall, shaking the entire chamber. Using every ounce of strength left in him, Seth dragged his body across the room as quickly as his arms would allow. His body was high on adrenaline and he barely noticed his broken knees bumping against the uneven stone tile. He made it safely to the staircase panting and out of breath. It was going to be a long night working his way up to the next level.
"Seriously, with all the shit they put us through they couldn't at LEAST give us an elevator??"
