If tributes engage in battle, the combat is played out by the Game Maker according to the instructions in your daily submission. Tributes with long range weapons get a free attack before enemy tributes can attack them at close range. Tributes may attempt to escape from battle, but if the escape action fails the opponent gets a free attack.
Scoring a hit
To determine if an attack lands on an opponent, the Game Maker will roll a 12 sided die and add the appropriate skill (melee, ranged, or unarmed combat). A score of 7 or higher will deal damage to the opponent.
Weapon Damage
Melee weapons, bows: 1d6
Knives, Darts: 1d3
Unarmed: 1 (increases to 1d2 with level 1, 1d3 with level 2, 1d4 with level 3)
Critical Hits
A critical hit (attack roll 12) will result in a critical wound. The wounded player will lose 1 health point per day until Medicine is used.
Proficiency
Using a weapon you are not proficient with gives you a -1 to your attack roll.
Sneak attacks
A tribute that has used the Stealth action rolls a die to stay hidden when encountering enemies. If the tribute is undetected, the enemy is not informed of the encounter in their daily brief and therefore cannot specify a battle tactic. The hidden tribute gains a free attack.
A tribute that has used the Scout action rolls a die to discover hidden enemies. The Scout roll must beat the enemy’s Stealth roll to discover them.
If a tribute uses a Rest action, they can be sneak attacked by any enemies entering the zone. To prevent this, you can use a Stealth and Rest action in the same turn. An resting alliance can only be sneak attacked if all members use a rest action in the same day.
