Kali made her way into the Mansion after the final fanfare of the parade had started to fade. She couldnt help but notice that the tributes were very hesitant to enter this exquisite mansion. After being close to the president for many years, one gets used to finer living.
Kali notices that the room directly to the left of the entrance was unoccupied. She strutted in only to find it was her and the bartender. After ordering a double martini, Kali found her way over to a couple of couches positioned perfectly for her to be able to see every tribute and sponsor enter the mansion. Without hesitation she lifted her dress and sat towards the end of the couch with her legs crossed. Let the party begin!

As V made her way across the foyer, she noticed the music coming from the dance hall to her left. There was no possible way she could dance, not at least until this distended belly could be quelled. So she turned right and headed for the bar, where the woman was still waiting on a nearby couch. V made eye contacts and waved, but briskly walked up to the bartender. "What can I get you sweetie?" said the middle-aged man behind the counter in a gravely voice. "Um, do you have anything that'd help an upset stomach?" The bartender thought for a moment and then rattled off a short list of fizzy drinks. "I can do a Kir Royale, a French 76, Black Russian..." V mouth slanted into a slight pout. "I don't know what any of those are, but is there any way to make an Old Miner and Tonic?", she had said hopefully with a tiny smile. The bartender looked surprised for a moment, but finally cracked a grin and let out a chuckle. He reached under the bar into a satchel he kept down there and pulled out a flask. He poured some of the strong smelling brownish liquor over ice and topped it with the tonic. Almost as an afterthought, he garnished it with a dash of bitters, a lime wheel, and a cherry so the girl's very plain drink seemed less out of place. V gave the drink a taste and nodded her approval, "Thank you very much." "You're very welcome little miss." the bartender said as he went back to polishing glassware. V turned and headed for the couch where the woman still sat, watching. She placed her drink down on the low table and reached her hand out. "Hi, My name's V-Veronica, but you can just call me V. Pleasure to meet you!"

Jessie decided to poke his head in the bar to see if they would serve him. Jessie cleared his throat and tried to make himself sound older than he was, "Ahem, I'll have a beer thanks."
The bartender looked at him and shook his head. "Oh ok sir," he replied sarcastically. The bartender got Jessie an O'Douls (or whatever the equivalent is in this world).
Jessie took a sip and spit it out. "C'mon man! Alright, I know I'm below the legal age but can't you let me have the real stuff before I go out there to fight for your entertainment?"
The bartender laughed, "Alright fine. Let's make this our little secret thought alright." He then poured Jessie a cheap beer.
"Bah, well I guess this is better than nothing. Thanks though." Jessie smiled as he took a sip.

"Not so fast," said Albert, grabbing Jessie by the collar. "You think you should be drinking this?" He says as he snatches the bottle and takes a swig. "Ah, Piss water!" He says spitting the beer eveywhere. He trudges to the bar.
After a bit of arguing and profuse apologizing from the bartender Albert comes back with a lowball and a handle of whiskey. He pours a glass and hands the bottle to Jessie. "This will make you a man."

Stepping into the dim and spacious bar of the mansion, Tristan adjusted the satin navy blue vest he had chosen for the evening. The sleeves on his dark dress shirt were rolled up and buttoned securely, showing off his callused hands and tattooed hands. Nearby, an attendant sprang forward in a garishly bright green suit.
"Is there anything I can bring you from the bar, Mr. Dan-ee-o?"
The question caught Tristan off guard, and he stammered.
"Err, a 'Straight-Bowline' if you've the cider, please." Nodding and energetically launching himself toward the bar, the brightly-colored bartender began pulling down bottles and preparing the drink. "...and it's 'Danio'." he called out, looking around the nearly vacant bar.
Taking a step toward a nearby barstool, the District Four tribute noticed a stunningly beautiful woman reclining back to look around the room. He caught her eye and kept a steady gaze as he joined her on the couch.
"You..." He paused, squinting. "You're from the commercials for the Opus company, aye? The woman with the survival and military gear!" Tristan's gruff voice revealed his excitement as he continued. "Your Flint-blade knife has kept me dry, warm and fed more times than you can believe!"

With all of the members rushing in through the main entrance, Kali barely notice a young girl enter the room. As the young girl approached and poked out her hand, Kali faded back to reality and was startled by the beautiful young girl in front of her.
"Oh, why hello there darling! I didn't even notice you come in, please have a set! My name is Kali Opus, I'm one of the sponsors around here that helps put on these games. Say, aren't you from District 12...I cant quite remember you name. Please, tell me a little more about yourself!"
Shortly after introducing herself to Veronica, Kali notice a very young boy enter from the grand entryway. She let out a little chuckle when she noticed how he was trying to act older. Kali wasn't the only one to notice when Veronica invited him over. Without hesitation she shifted in the coaches to make room for the tribute. Out of no where came Albert, one of Kali's fellow tributes, who quickly assessed the boy's drinking situation.
"Now that's what I call hospitality, Albert."

With all of the commotion going on around here, Kali had a hard time keeping up with everyone. However, there was one boy that caught her eye as she watched from afar. The boy ordered something from the bar and quickly made eye contact with her. Kali didn't hesitate to make eye contact back to the very well dressed young man as he made his way over to the coaches. What the boy didn't realize is he had taken the young boys seat she had offered earlier. She quickly threw a couple of the pillows behind the coach to make room for all involved. The young boy definitely wasn't shy as he was quick to place where he had seen Kali before.
"Well hello, I must say it's nice to see someone actually remember my product instead of my 'products'." Kali let out a small laugh to lighten the mood. "You really pride yourself in your tattoos don't you? Mind me asking, do they represent anything?"

"Pleasure to meet you Kali, my name is Veronica Braxton, but you can just call me V, everyone else does. You got it right, I'm the tribute from District Twelve, along with little Jessie here. I don't really know what to say about myself, so I guess I should just start from the beginning. My parents were killed by a panther while they were out panning for gold. A man who lived in the nearby woods found me and took me in. I spent most of my life in the forests watching the animals and learning to find my way around. We lived a pretty minimal life and made most of what we had. I would sneak away to the nearby town and that's how I eventually came to know about the Hunger Games in the first place. Living in the same place for my whole life, seeing the seasons come in and go year after year, I wanted to see and do something more with my life. The capitol seemed as good a place as any to go and is certainly the most different place I can get from the woods. So, yeah, I volunteered to come here. I'm not really scared, life is an adventure and every new experience is to be cherished..." V paused for a moment and caught her breath, "Oh my I'm just rambling now aren't I *hehe*" "So who are you Ms. Opus?"

"Wow, thanks mister!" Jessie downs the whole glass. This was his first time drinking hard liquor and he made.... Let's call it the cliche hard liquor face for someone drinking it for the first time... It took all his effort to not spit out some of it. "Woah! Thah shiiiit is STRONG." He was already starting to get a little dizzy. "Shank yoo very much mistuah! Howuh... Howuh... are all the lovely people tonight?" He said as he bobbled in his seat a bit.

Shrugging back farther into the couch, Tristan smiled at Kali's question and held out his left arm.
"These tattoos are about bringing the right tides and winds; see how these waves are against the southern side of the compass?" He said, trailing a finger up his arm.
The brightly dressed waiter returned with a glass of sparkling drink the color of amber; Tristan held the cup firmly before taking it from the tray.
"My right arm is about respecting the dangers out there..." The young sailor twisted his right arm around to show Kali the assortment of storms, sharks and rocks on his forearm. "Now I wonder if there will be time enough for me to add some tributes to that arm."
Taking a sip from his drink, Tristan brought a steady gaze up to Kali.
"With me being the lubber in this port; what advice does a survival-expert like you have for someone about to go under?"

Your was completely out of his league here. Conversation was never a strong point, and he didn't want to dull his senses by taking some of the fizzy drink the bartender offered him. He didn't want to look like as much of an idiot as the other kid his age here. He walked up to Jessie curiously, wondering if his behavior, his innocence, was an act. He smiled,
"Big place isn't it?"

Rosie had never felt so insecure before. She had thought that the parade had taken a toll on her, but being in close proximity to the people that imprisoned her family made her sick to her stomach.
She slowly made her way towards the bar. Her dress slinked behind her as she asked the bartender for a vodka martini. It was the only drink she could fathom at that moment. She knew that everyone was statring at her scar. Her scar was the reminder of everything that made her want to fight.
As Rosie observed her surroundings, she saw a beautiful woman near the bar. She didn't know much about her, but all Rosie knew her name was Kali. She knew that she was a kindred soul like her despite the desiccation and decay of the world around them.
