Sand whips into your eyes as you trudge along a sandy dune and you soon find a cave to shelter you from the sandstorm. Inside you see the exit to the next level, but nearby there’s a scaly beast guarding a nest of large eggs. Threatened by your arrival, it attacks to protect its offspring. You’ll have to ward off its attacks, or take a risk and steal its precious treasure while its distracted. | Action | Requirement | Result | | Block Lizard's Attack | Combat score 6

"EEEEEEEE!" screamed Jaffe when she noticed the giant lizard. The beast awakened when it heard her voice. It's voice hissed and clicked which made Jaffe's stomach sick. She instinctively reached for the gun and raised it at the oncoming lizard, but she new each bullet was precious and needed to be saved. Begrudgingly she flanked her enemy, watching for it's head movement and eyes just as her father had taught her. She could tell the monster didn't notice her movements, which gave her courage. She creeped towards the eggs, licking her chapped dry lips.

Her fathers training paid off and she grabbed one of the giant leathery eggs. She ran for her life, heart beating out of her chest. "Let's go, let's go!" she hollered at her teammates, half trying to distract the beast.

 The beast eyed the tributes warily and snarled a rumbling hiss; there was no way Tristan was going to sneak around it. The tight passageway was too narrow to keep a wide distance or run past the lizard's clutch of eggs. "Whatever you do, keep moving!" He called to Al and Jaffe. "We gotta go, we gotta go!" Al yelled as he darted behind Tristian, avoiding the lizard's huge tail and claws. He paused to make sure the others were en route out of the level when he noticed Jaffie stop and steal the egg. "Are you certifiably INSANE?" He asked as she got away with the leathery egg in tow. "I swear, I'm not going to die because of this lizard. It's because YOU ARE GOING TO GIVE ME A HEART ATTACK." The lizard stomped forward and Al figured it was now or never.

Narrowly missing the lizard's attack and falling over, he spit dirt out as he scrambled to his feet, dirt sliding everywhere as he righted himself and continued moving. "Shit. Shit. SHIT." He looked over at Jaffie and Tristian. "If I do not make it out of here, you've gotta win and for the love of god do not let my stupid ass die in vain."

Once more, Al flew to the ground, hitting hard. He's blocked in. He has been blocked in and this is his last shot. If he doesn't finish, that lizard was going to make him a snack. "What I said before still applies." Using what seemed to be the last of his strength, he flung himself towards the lizard, hoping one last time to block his attack.

Al cried as the attack rocked his entire body, feeling his entire body practically be torn apart as he fell to the dirt, struggling and unable to get up. "Guys. Keep going. Just...keep going, okay? This is fine, it's gonna be fine."

"Kingsley!" Tristan ran toward the boy and carefully dragged him away from the clutch of eggs. The reptile eyed Tristan's tattooed arms that had overpowered it earlier and hesitated.
"That's nothing, you gob!" The sailor had seen worse from accidents and animal attacks, but the wounds certainly weren't nothing. "I won't lose someone to a damn-overgrown lizard!"
Safely away from the muttation, Tristan looked around for anything to bandage the clawed-flesh with. Finding nothing, he shrugged and smiled at Alistair.
"Like I said, it's nothing at all, Kingsley. Let's get you back on your feet and moving, before she comes back for seconds."

Jaffe felt ashamed she had been greedy and left her only link back to home Alistair to fend off the monster himself. "I'm sorry Alistair," she said, and gave him a hug.
