As you make your way through a dark cave you hear a high pitched screech. You look up to see a massive bat hanging from the ceiling. Detecting your movement, it turns its enormous ears toward you and bares its razor sharp fangs. You freeze in your tracks and it seems to lose your position. You’ll need to move silently across the room, unless you have a ranged weapon to knock it off the cave ceiling. Action | Requirement | Result | Move Silently | Stealth score 6
| Advance to next location | Shoot Bat Muttation | Combat score 7 Long Range Weapon | All tributes advance to next location |
Penalty: If you do not complete the event, the bat muttation bites you. Lose 1 HP.

Al stopped at the beginning of the cave and looked at the ceiling. Without making a sound, he mouthed "oh shit" to the others who were behind him. If there was a top 10 list of things that scared him, bats would definitely be a solid fifth or sixth, in front of dogs but behind rogue black holes. It was imperative that he not make any noise, which is actually very difficult when you can physically feel a heart attack coming on. Using his tip-toes and not taking his eyes off the hanging creature, he made his way into the damp cool cave to attempt to sneak past it, holding his bow close and remaining unarmed. Fuck shooting that thing, if he missed it'd come for him and that would just be the end of his already paper-thin sanity.

Jaffe watched Alistair breeze by the bat mutation with out issue. Today she felt like she was seeing another side of him. He was no longer the reluctant boy she had first met he was assertive, confident, and skilled. She followed him silently.

Her skills again on show she cartwheeled past the muttation without making a sound. Her movements were fluid like a dancer. Her father would've been proud.

Ox was a big dude. He was not going to get by this Bat very easily, he made an effort to get around the bat as quietly as possible.

Ox clumped by but the bat seemed to be preoccupied with eating something or grooming itself. But Ox made it away gritting his teeth and stamping his feet.

Ashton followed behind Ox, gritting his teeth in concentration. He doesn't know when he became the caboose on this crazy train but he was alright with just getting by the fucking bat because the thought of shooting it made him pee himself a bit. The thing was huge and its eyes were creepy. But if the others made it past him--even Ox with his thundering feet, Ashton felt fairly confident he could make it past the bat.

He kicked a stone, wincing as the bat whipped its giant head to stare him down: and he froze. He'd have to be super careful if he wanted to make it through without any bat bites: animals, it was ALWAYS animals jesus.

At the end of the cave, Al knelt down and bit his lip...god damn he was going to make it bleed if he kept doing that, but he had to make sure the others made it through...and perhaps more importantly that the deal was upheld. When Ashton fell, he swore his heart went straight into his throat as he looked to the bat. If that little fucker woke up, he swore he might just die right then and there. Peering over at Arnie who had yet to get through as well, he silently hoped that this would work.

Arnie brought the bow up to his shoulder and leveled the crossbow at the hanging bat.
Just before pulling the trigger Arnie breathed out nice and slow like his father had taught him.

"Fuck" Arnie whispered. The bolt had gone just below the bat and fell harmlessly to the ground. Pulling out another bolt, Arnie tried one more time.

Arnie was horrified as the second bolt also missed. Looks like he was going to have to take it hard on this one. Arnie put his head down and rushed across doing the best he could to protect his head and neck. Within seconds Arnie felt a seeking pain as he back was torn into by the fluttering bat.
Now out of its range, Arnie saw Alistair and made his way over to him. Arnie nodded and whispered,"I'm a man of my word, here it is. I appreciate your trust, I hope I earned it properly now."
With that Arnie flipped the crossbow around and presented it to Alistair.

Al took back the bow and handed over Arnie's scythe, taking a moment to smile at the boy. Like, an actual genuine smile before holding out his hand to shake. It had been a long time since that had happened.
"You've got my trust as much as anyone in here can."

Ox rushed over to Arnie to check him for his bite and sucked in his breath.
"Shit man..." It looked harsh.
"You're going to be fine man." Ox tried to reassure him shakily.

Ashton kicked and shouted, kicking at the bat as it attacked him. He saw Arnie drag himself out of the cave and knew he had to do the same. But first he had to distract the bat. He managed to find a rock and throw it at the bat's head, startling the creature long enough for Ashton to drag himself out of the cave and into the light. Fuck these mutated animals, in his next life he was going to be a mutant animal bounty hunter.
He reached the others and got down on the ground, trying to stop the flow of blood. "Oh my god, that sucked."
