When Olive saw that all the hovercraft for the western tower was gone and knowing she could fight Arnie if she wanted to stay in the alliance she decided to grab a jay, she knew how they worked and she knew they were her only chance to get in contact with Derrick since they couldn't get to the same tower. This was her chance if she didn't want to redo her entire strategy and she couldn't risk fighting against Derrick alliance when he was the only one except her that would look out for her brother.
