Day three

[Alys Stout]

Alys ran to the water pool, and rapidly splashed. Oh sweet water! After she was thuoughly hydrated she turned to the others. "Thank goodness for this fresh water."

"Congrats in your hunting Dolan!" It was a small kill, and Alys understood that it was only enough for himself, but it was a good sign- game was available on this island. She wasn't much of a hunter, but damn she was going to try.

"What do you think? Should we stay here or move to another island? I guess we need to decide a strategy- either setting up a strong base, or seeking out smaller alliances. What do you think?"

[Dolan Tawt]

Dolan held up the rabbit he had killed with pride.

"I'm not that hungry so I'll save this for later, but damn am I happy that we found water." Dolan says with relief.

"I think we should fortify this area actually. Build up some supplies, set up some traps and stealth up, wait for some enemies to fall prey to some traps and then finish them off safely. We just found water I'm not about to give up this free resource to anyone else."

Dolan strung up his kill on a nearby branch.

"I'm probably going to go hunt again, maybe set a trap or two, but we should also sandbag this island, it's getting real low in the water so maybe I'll dedicate a bit of time to that."

[Derrin Verittia]

Derrin shifted a bit when none of the herbs offered much to either him or Alys whom he learned also did gathering. Dolan caught a rabbit though, So he laughed a bit. Nice to know they had a hunter.

Derrin shifted a bit and figured that if they really wanted to make base here it could work. Water, it was semi close to the cornucopia. The main issue was the sinking; eventually they simply would have to leave.

Derrin sighed and said, “None of these islands can house a stronghold forever. We will need to scout beyond our area. I do agree that holding a water source is very useful for the time being.”

Derrin looked over at Quinn to see what his thoughts were.

Quinn picked his face out of the pond and rolled over.

"Yes. I like this water idea," he wiped a few drops from his face, "and staying here for awhile. I'll trap up the area and put some sandbags down. But, I also wouldn't mind exploring the areas around us." Quinn sat up with a furrowed brow.

"I feel like all the other tributes are pretty far from us if they mostly went north and west...do you think the arena's going to do something to us? I have repel spray to get muttations away from us, but then we can't hunt..."

Alys piped up, "I'm good with staying here for awhile. I should mention, Dolan and I get +1 to everything in the mountains, so that could really help the whole group out!"

[Dolan Tawt]

Dolan looks into the sky and his eyes widen in surprise.

"Quinn.... Look." Dolan points up at a photo of Talia is being projected into the sky.

"Talia didn't make it through the last day either...." Dolan said. He didn't really feel badly about her so much as he felt bad for Quinn, she was his district partner after all.

Quinn looked up with a small frown.

"...At least I tried...I wonder what happened."

[Natalya Aeglaeca]

Natalya laid down in the grass and stared up at the sky. She saw Talia's face projected against the clouds. She was surprised at the tributes who had fallen. She rolled over and took a couple of handfuls of water. The rolling hills seemed to stretch out forever.

She walked over to Quinn who looked upset and put her hand on his shoulder. "You did everything you could to help Talia. It's ok."

She then turned and said," I think we should sandbag, and I can defiantly try multiple times to make a fire. I am ok with staying here for a little while. We need to be mindful of when the island sinks and get off of it with plenty of time. We should also always have a back up plan in case we are attacked by a tribute with stealth qualities."

Alys too was surprised to see Talia's face blown up in the cannons. A girl her age... She shook it off and was glad to hear the talk turn back to strategy.

"I am going to try to hunt with traps- I am so hungry," she clenched her small belly as it rumbled. "I haven't eaten since the games began."

She added "if anyone wants to hunt with me, we could improve our chances. I'm not skilled in if, but I'm desperate here..."

[Quinn Watson]

Quinn looked blankly at the sky.

"Thanks, Natalya." Then he dropped his head to look at Natalya. A coy smile came over his face.

"Aren't you glad you came with me?" He chuckled and then stood up and brushed the dirt off of himself.

"I've never hunted before in my life. Though, Dolan looks pretty good at it." Quinn smiled at Dolan. "How about you two hunt together? I'll just stay back here and put up some protection." He looked towards Derrin. "You seem pretty good at this scouting stuff. Do you wanna see if you can see if there's anything north or south of us?"

Quinn mentioned that the other tributes were probably far away and that this had fresh water so they might as well fortify the area. Derrin was not sure if he totally agreed but still decided to follow orders. It was not like he was against staying here, Derrin just felt like staying anywhere was a bad idea. Though after looked up in the sky when Dolan did his heart wavered a bit.

Talia…was dead…

Derrin looked at Quinn who simply said he tried. Derrin wanted to cheer him up but the same was in the case if he saw Kimber’s name go up. It just felt, not good. Like your only other connection to your district was gone.

When Natalya mentioned a fire Derrin looked at her with a little bit of shock and said, “I can fires really well…but do we really want to signal where we are unless we need to? Just is the fire nessesary is all I am wondering?”

Alys was hungry, Derrin had stuffed himself before they came so he actually had not been hungry yet, He ate the little bit of gathering food he had gotten though, so it made sense some of them needed to eat.

Quinn mentioned what he wanted everyone to do and Derrin simply nodded. Sure he could try and check out the surrounding areas. “Quinn, if I can’t find a good place here I’ll move north, scout, and then move back. I won’t be able to look for food but I maybe able to get better intelligence that way.”

"She smiled at Quinn, I really am."

"I only thought I would build a fire if we had a successful hunt to cook the meat. I can also hunt but poorly and I do not have a weapon so at this point I am about as useless as the sandbag. I am a master at survival but if you guys want I can try either hunting with a borrowed weapon (Dolan) or attempt survival twice and sandbag once. Just let me know what you guys need me to do."

"I think I agree with Derrin, we should keep on the move..."
