Nilla scanned the gathered crowd. Amidst the hopeful sponsors, Hunger Games staff, and assorted celebrities she could make out what she assumed were other tributes.
All the tributes this year were past victors like herself and she had done some minimal research on each one just to have even the slightest edge it could afford her. Some of them were trained fighters, some were amazing tacticians, and some had just gotten lucky like herself.
“Well,” Nilla said to herself, “Let’s see who we’re up against shall we?” She flicked a little switch on a small orb in her pocket and tossed it into the air where it hovered a foot above her. She turned to face the orb and gave it a grin as a little red light blinked on. “Hey Knights, time to give you all a little peek into this year's Hunger Games! I’m gonna try to get to gabbin’ with some of the other tributes so you don’t have to just listen to me monologue during the whole feast…” She winked at the camera, “Not like any of you would mind that right?”
Scanning the room once more she noticed an area of the room that seemed to have several tributes standing around enjoying the festivities.
“Ok, let’s keep it together. They’re much more likely to know you as NillaNight then they are to know you as Silvi’s betr…” Her thoughts started to trail off and she gave her face a light slap to snap herself out of it.
Nilla threw an arm up in the air and began waving it towards some of the other tributes hoping to gain their attention and maybe start a conversation.

Carac has been making small talk with a few of the other tributes. While listening to someone describing their life in the home district he noticed a woman seemingly talking to someone who wasn’t there. She turned to where Carac was standing and waived as she walked over.
After exchanging names and pleasantries Carac’s curiosity got the best of him.
“Nilla, who or, I guess what we’re you talking to over there?”

A man who reminded her very much of a lumberjack made his way over to her and without introducing himself began questioning her about her what appeared to an outsider to be insane ramblings to an imaginary friend.
"Oh! Hi...Carac?" Her study of the other tributes had already afforded her the man's name but she didn't want to look like she was already conniving and plotting so she tried to downplay it as a guess.
She offered the man a winning smile, "Pleasure to meet ya!" She motioned to the small orb floating just behind her head, "I'm livestreaming this whole event to my viewers. Do you have any words for the fans watching on 1Up?"

Carac raised his hand to the device giving a single waive.
“Hello 1up! I’m Carac”. Carac thought about saying hello to someone back home but realized no one back home was watching this stream. It occurred to Carac that if Nilla had a following more people probably knew her. Sponsorship would probably be easier for those who hadn’t been holed up in the Victor Village working on their wood carving skills. Nothing to do about that now.
“So I take it you have a rather large following? Are they going to let you into the Games with that?”

"I hope so!" She jerked a thumb at the flying camera, "The last time I was in there I brought this in as my sponsor gift along with this." she patted a small touchscreen device on her hip.
"It displays the chat from my livefeed...heavily moderated by the gamemasters so as not to give me clues as to the other tributes whereabouts. They're so strict about limiting my information that I'd bet I only get one out of every twenty messages. I'd say I have about...1.2 million viewres at this point? Not all of em tune in every night though." she added to soften the number.
Her smile turned into a playful smirk, "I even let em vote on what I should do sometimes...for a small channel donation of course."
"What'd the sponsors send you into the arena with last time?"

“I never received anything that interesting. If I remember right it was just a rope and then some water when I was struggling after a day or so.”
Carac trailed off as his mind wondered back to his last games.
“It’s odd they’re being us back again. What do you think they have planned for the games this time around?”

Nilla's smile faltered for a tenth of a second, "I'm sure its for ratings. Even in the online world when a streamer is losing views they'll usually suddenly have a "taking a shot for every death" or "playing Dusk Spirits with a Dance Dance Fever pad" stream"
She knew it had to be something bigger than that for the Capital to pull a move like this but she didn't want to go sowing panic in her fellow tributes before alliances could be formed.
"I'm sure viewership had just slipped a little and they wanted to reinvest Capital viewers in the event."
She eyed the man up and down playfully, "Unless you have another theory..."

After sampling the finest hors d'oeuvres, Qadyn made his way around with an elderflower cocktail. He spotted two tributes chatting and recognized one. Ah, Nilla. Finally someone I can relate to. Bitch knows how to work the camera. He grabbed a drink for her and made his way over.
"Pardon the intrusion," he said to Carac as he handed a drink to Nilla. "Looks like you could use this." He smirked. "THE Nilla Nightsand? Pleasure, dahling. Long time fan of your work. And that jacket? So gamer-chic." He fluffed his hand about in a flourish.
He turned his attention to Carac. "Ah, yes I recall your games. Hard-fought and well-deserved win." He toasted his drink towards Carac as he sipped and tried not to look at the...stump. He flashed a smile. "Pleasure. If you ask me, I think this whole thing is bullshit. We deserve all the riches and glory and fame without having to be thrown back into this shit. Just give us our mansions and leave us the hell alone." He took another sip of his cocktail.

Nilla had no reason to pretend not to know the pink suited man who had strutted his way into their conversation. Everyone who's anyone knew Qadyn. She had even once done a digital media piece with him for Blitzfeast where they had to try to decide whether outfits they were shown were really worn by citizens of the Capital 30 years ago or not. Qadyn had aced the quiz naturally but Nilla had been fooled by this really strange hoop skirt where the hoop was worn around the shoulders instead of the waist. She still firmly believed the film crew was lying to her when they said that citizens of the capital were wearing these upside down dresses before she was born.
"Qadyn! What a pleasure to see you...all things considered." she motioned to the room bearing Hunger Games themeing. "I can only imaging you have a little quip for my fans at home all written up in your head already." she grinned at him and motioned to her floating camera.
"Perhaps some hints as to your mothers upcoming fall fashion line?" she chided accepting a drink as flamboyant as the man handing it to her.

Qadyn smirked at Nilla's camera offer. She knows me so well. He flashed a smile and looked into the camera:
"What's not to love?! Blood red rubies, lethal spikes as accents...Well Panem, let's just say her next line will be..." He tiled his head downward for emphasis. "...to DIE for!" He threw his head back with laughter, always hiding the feeling of reality sinking in.

Qadyn's mom never stayed on the beaten path and it sure as hell didn't sound like she'd be getting back on that path anytime soon. "Sounds just like her. Fashion is pain," she laughed, "Its not like high heels were designed for comfort so spikes sound right at home on a night out on the town."
"In my line of work you don't really have to dress up much but..." she raised a foot up so it was in view of the camera, "I made sure to grab these genuine Von Ho x Transverse collaboration sneakers the moment they hit the stores. If I'm gonna wear sneakers I might as well look good in em."
"Speaking of looking good and hitting the town do you feel like living it up tonight?" She tapped the camera floating behind her, "Drunken reverie always makes for good ratings."

Qadyn grinned. "Oh. Em. Gee. Girl, you are ROCKIN' those sneaks! And you are talking my language!" He finished his drink.
He realized he'd neglected Carac for a moment, so he turned to him briefly. "You know, dahling. I don't know your experience with prosthetics, but if we weren't all about to die I'd love to have my father craft something for you, fully functional and adorned in jewels." He nodded at Carac and returned his attention to Nilla.
"So, where to, betch?"

Nilla did a little twirl showing off the sneakers to a greater effect, "Damn straight I'm rockin' em!" she threw a wink at her camera for extra effect and a second later the touchscreen on her hip started lighting up as a sizable amount of men in their parents' basement posted in her chat chiming in to agree.
"Where ever you got me this drink for starters," she downed half the drink at once for effect."And after a few more of these," she jerked a thumb at a gaggle of men, "and a few of those...we'll see where we end up!"
She tugged playfully at Carac's sleeve, "and of course you're invited."

Carac has been slightly taken aback by the exuberant entrance. He took in the exchange between the two social creatures who seemed much more at home in this place.
While drinks didn’t seem like something he’d usually do, making friends now now might be useful. He quickly reaffirmed his first thought. He would stick out and plus, there were more people to talk to.
“Thank you but I shall have to pass. I’m sure I’ll be seeing more of the both of you.” He turned to Qadyn, “And thank you for the kind words.
Carac went off to the dessert table and edged his way into Ear shot of another conversation.
