Thomas took in his surroundings. He was handcuffed to a tall pole, beside the seven older, and larger, tributes. Thomas was surprised to notice that the handcuffs were one-size-fits-all. God the capitol is ridiculous. Budget cuts must have been more extreme than he had imagined. It seemed that being a scrawny thirteen-year-old was about to pay off for the first time in his life. Thomas tucked his thumb tightly into his palm, and managed to slip his left hand out of the cuff. He quickly used his left hand to aide in pull his right hand out as well. The eyes of the capitol were upon him, and he hoped to not be caught.

Thomas thought he had escaped from the cuffs without raising suspicion, until he saw a peacekeeper raise a gun and point it directly at Thomas. Thomas ran like a bat out of hell, not looking where he was going. As he was running, he nearly tripped over something, a bow - just like the one that the peacekeeper had seized from him. Several of his fellow tribute seemed to have noticed the bow as well, but Thomas knew he was likely the most proficient with this weapon, as he had practiced shooting during the endless days at the hospital. He needed to get to the bow first. He ripped the cast that Cal had pieced him up with after the hovercraft attack. Below the sweaty bandages was his holo. I feel horrible for not giving this thing to Reese, it might have made a difference. Thomas had hid the holo in his dressings, in case some type of capture had occurred. He felt like he needed to use the holo one last time, if for no other reason feel less guilty about being stingy when Reese had asked to borrow it. He turned on the holo and made a mad dash for the bow, he needed to fight Vester and defend his new friends.

Thomas was really having a rough go of it. He grabbed handle of the bow, but then actually tripped over the strings of the bow. Focus Thomas, this is when it counts. Thomas saw several of his surviving tributes fighting the game maker himself. Vester was covered in nasty burns and cuts. What happened to him? It seemed like Vester had not had the easiest time of it himself.
It was a do or die moment, but Thomas couldn't help but laugh. He shouted at the once handsome and well-kept game maker "Sorry, dude - but you're just not as hot as you used to be!" He almost doubled over with laughter at his own joke. Burn. Vester turned his head toward Thomas and his hand quickly followed. I guess making fun of the game maker might not have been best move... but I just couldn't resist that one. He knew it was time to act. He pulled back the string of his bow and concentrated on attacking Vester. It couldn't be too difficult.... I mean the guy is practically a crisp at this point He tightened his bow string, aimed at Vester, and released the arrow.

Apparently, Vester still had quick reflexes. He managed to slip almost out of the way of Thomas's arrow. Nevertheless, the arrow struck Vester in his dominant arm. Not exactly a coup de grace there, buddy. Vester dropped his weapon, only to reclaim it with his non-dominant hand. I really hope he isn't ambidextrous.... Thomas didn't waste time trying to find out.
He sprinted to the hovercraft and screamed to his friends "Come on guys! Move your asses let's get out of here!" The young boy jumped onto the hovercraft and turned to the surviving tributes. His heart was racing, but he managed to pant "We... did it. We made it out alive... for now. What's our next move?"
