Wallace lay on the ground still. Sharlot was dead, Minerva and Lartius had moved on leaving him to die of hunger or from bleeding out, whichever came first. Wallace didn't make a sound, he just lay still on the ground, waiting for the end. But the end seemed to have found him first. Wallace rolled onto his back at the sound of the approaching hovercraft, his face was blank.
"Maybe being blown up won't hurt as badly as I think it will" Wallace mumbled to himself half hardheartedly. He tried his hardest to sit up, finding it difficult to prop oneself up with one arm working at capacity. Much to his surprise, the hovercraft didn't gun him down as he struggled to sit up against the wall, but dropped off another armed peacekeeper. Wallace stared at him as the hovercraft took off, leaving the man behind to stare back at Wallace.
"How many of you fuckers are they gonna send to kill a fourteen year old kid before they realize I'm smarter than all of you?" Wallace said with half a laugh. The peacekeeper said nothing, but began walking towards Wallace at an easy but military pace. "How many times do I have to get SHOT?!" Wallace barked "or STARVE? OR WATCH MY FRIENDS DIE IN FRONT OF ME? OR BE LEFT ALONE?!" Wallace finished with an angry sob. He was furious that his eyes wouldn't stay clear, angry that he would die with tears in his eyes, gunned down like a frightened little boy. "Well fuck that" Wallace spat on the ground at the peacekeepers feet as he stopped in front of his battered body. Wallace looked into the Peacekeepers black visor to see himself reflected in it. Gaunt, dirty, his eyes sunken and his forehead covered in caked on blood. "You will look like me one day soon" Wallace said feebly to the peacekeeper, holding his gaze. "You will find yourself, hungry and bleeding and alone, and someone will stand over you with a gun and you will remember me in that moment." Wallace pushed himself up onto his feet, the peacekeeper holding his gun ready. "At least let me get on my feet before you finish me" Wallace requested. The peacekeeper backed away to let Wallace stand, gun trained right between his eyes.
