Wren came into the dorm room to find Lartius napping. He realized he was still clutching onto his papers he'd written earlier that day, so he sat down in his old bed from his past days in the tower and tucked them into his boot. While reaching into his tall leather boots, his odd storage choice these days with such small pockets, he felt another paper in there. He pulled it out and recognized it from his first day in the tower. He reread it and tried to reassure himself. I was never guaranteed anything. It is what it is, and I can't change that...even though I'm the better person. I think. He'd changed so much in the past few days, especially since the reaping. ooc: Confirmed we CANNOT share an item and all use it the same day. Boo =(
ic: "Hey Lartius, if you're awake, listen up. (I didn't hear a whisper from you about your attack, but Cal mentioned you made one hit? So I'm assuming you used your baton and just didn't tell me directly) Now that you've used your baton, only you can use it today. Would you mind attacking Deo one or two more times? You can hack once if you want, too, so we can split up damage if we somehow lose. Then I'll either hack with my remaining two or scavenge once, for my own baton maybe. Is that alright? I think we need equal focus on attacking him and hacking points. Even if he hacks twice and loses, he's got morphling. We need him dead or beyond 6 hits."

Cal had followed Wren into the dorm room, closed it behind him. His eyes were heavy, he saw both Lartius and Wren in the room with him. He turned to face Lartius. "I don't expect privacy at this point, too many people in too many rooms. I'll try my best to keep the noise down." He walked over to Wren, dropping down to his knees in front of him. His eyes were glued to the floor, not being able to look Wren in the eyes. "Wren I... I don't deserve your forgiveness. I thought I had been open with everything by now, but seeing your face then... I had missed something important. I didn't explain how I had fallen for Gwen, that I had declared my love. It was the last night in the Capital, and I didn't know if I would see her again. Seeing both of you here... it was like the training facility again. But I know things are different compared to back then. The stakes have never been higher, and even though I still care for her, I'm not with her anymore. I want her and Val to have the same thing we have, something beautiful. I'm not leaving you Wren, I just hope I haven't lost you for good..." "I agree with Wren, we can't lose focus on the main objective, capturing the point. I'm attempting to feed Sydney false information, that I haven't been as successful with my attacks, forcing us to over-commit to Deo's death. Last I checked, Sydney knows our hack total. We'll need additional hacks if we want to overcome their attempts to catch up. Lartius, take another swing with the baton. If it hits home, try hacking for your last roll. Best case scenario, we take the Watchtower back, finish off Deo before he can heal and punish anyone attempting to hack for the Peacekeepers."

Wren folded up the old letter and tapped Cal on the head with it, attempting to be playful. He tucked it back into his boot. "I can't expect someone like you to be truly loyal to one and only one. It's just not in your nature. Which most likely means I'm the better person in this scenario, and you're right. You don't deserve my forgiveness. Especially for that spy incident." He stared at Cal, whose eyes were wide and sad. Damn it."But, you get it anyway I guess. Because I'm stupid, and because I'm a good person." Wren smiled. "I wonder if that song clip is still in here, somewhere...those lyrics are so fitting, these days." "Val let us know if you want to use your gun or give it to Holly or I to use. Gwen, what's your attack skill like? Maybe either of us 3 could get a guaranteed hit with that thing, then the rest attack unarmed and hack. Maybe we'll put Val on scavenging/spying and sharing items/info since she can't hack and isn't good at attacking."
"Oh, and Cal, those lyrics...'And the song of the sirens in our ears .That will bring em all to tears dear', Val renamed Gwen Siren so...this song is way too fitting! But remember, 'if you'll be mine, then I will fight for you.'...So, I guess I'm still in this, because I'm still fighting." Wren smiled. "You're still an ass, though."

Cal allowed himself a small smile at Wren's words, his eyes moving up to look at his. He picks himself up and has a seat next to Wren, after a moment letting his body fall on his, arms wrapped around him as Cal's face is buried in Wren's back. "You are a good person, but you're not stupid. I'd say reckless, but that's in your nature, right?" He takes a deep breath, becoming lost in the moment. "Thank you Wren. I love you more than you'll ever know." Cal chuckles to himself, remembering back to that song.
"Oh there's so much more to that song. 'Save the girl and the world will be jealous.' If Gwen's the girl, that would make you my world. I'll just have to make it up to you, somehow."
He gives a play punch to Wren's shoulder.
"I resent that remark on my nature. If nothing else, I am consistent. Consistently ambiguous, maybe, but I remain the same through and through. Its also why I ended up spying on you. I feel the best gauge of intent is consistency, so when I felt you were acting odd, I spied. Same reason I'm taking steps to work around Sydney now. And if it turns out she really wants to help us, I'll take the heat. I'm the designated asshole, remember?"

Gwen poked her head into the dorm room where she saw Cal and Wren disappear into on her way to go "find some food" with Val. She was relieved to see them cozying up. She had caught the tail end of their conversation. She loved Cal, in her own way, and it was because of that reason she didn't understand what he saw in Wren sometimes. She had Val now and he seemed determined to keep him and seemed happy so it wasn't her place to say anything. She smiled at the thought of Val. "You guys should play that song if you end up finding it. By the way, I got a solid hit on Deo. I'm assuming that should cover getting his ass whooped? I think I'll try for the jabberjay, unless you need me to try and land another hit just in case."

Wren saw Gwen peek her head inside. "Hey, Gwen. You can come in, if you want. I have a song you might like to hear later. I'll play it for you if I can find it. It's a party, after all. Can't have a party without music, right?" Wren smirked. Wren eyed Gwen. He never saw what Cal originally saw in her, but then again he never really saw that in any girl. Or anyone other than Cal, for that matter. He turned to Cal, trying to read his eyes as Gwen stood in the doorway. "CAL WHY THE FUCK WOULD YOU TELL DEO TO ATTACK ME OR HOLLY? Has he spied on us to confirm, first? Maybe suggest spying and scavenging for his actions first, because what if we're actually peacekeepers, etc.? Maybe tell him I mentioned having a decent item and that he could probably snag it via spy, rather than waste it by killing me off. Unless, if he thinks I'm armed maybe he'd definitely kill me...ugh. I know you're trying to trick him and be undercover, but DAMN. You're going to get us all killed. Is throwing out the names of our two main strategists going to help the accord? What side are you on, man?"
Wren leaned back. "I was just starting to trust you again...."

Holly woke and had moved into the room as quietly as she could. Seems like everyone is pairing up. Hopefully, I'm not interrupting anything special. "Hey, everyone. Don't mean to be a bother, but a bed's a bed." Holly flopped down and stretched out. Comfort was at a premium these days. Holly glared at Cal. "I heard what you said. I don't know you that well, I'm taking Wren's word for your allegiances. But throwing us under the bus instead of impressing upon them that they're outnumbered and offering alternatives... And Sydney seemingly turning on us after you brought her in is making me mighty fucking suspicious of you, my dear." Holly looked at Wren, she was furious.
"Your boyfriend just signed my fucking death warrant. You get that right? Everyone can see you two cuddling all over this place. Deo and Minerva aren't going to attack their ally's precious plaything. I said when I came in here, Deo is likely to assume I'm a target, and he just served me right up. You two better fix this."

Cal glanced at Gwen as he walked through the door. He knows not everyone could understand what he saw in either her or Wren, but he didn't expect them to. His experience is my own. Cal's eyes narrowed, tension building through his face. He closes his eyes, and takes a deep breath. Opening them, they've maintained their focus but not their aggression.
"I'm going to try and explain my reasoning. I'll try and keep it simple, but thorough. It's not simple, but here's what I got.
Deo reached out to the Peacekeepers, desperate for assistance. I dropped in, deciding to try and take him up on his offer, see what he had in mind. I also informed the rest of the Accord that I would be letting them know what Deo has stated, copying his responses back to everyone, including Sydney. Deo was pretty eager to respond as I had reported, made the simple request to hack the point. Look at the big picture: Rebel 15, Peacekeepers 10. Before reaching out, Deo and Minerva were 2 vs. 7 at this point, attacking us wouldn't make sense for his priorities.
Then Sydney jumped in with a message. All I could read was her opening statement, same as you. No whispers, nothing. I believe she informed Deo that I was not to be trusted and was relaying everything he said back to the Rebels. When I asked her why she wasn't including me in the whispers, she claims to be just trying to get a read on Deo, then introducing herself to me and Deo as if she hadn't already posted before.
Then Deo responds. It seems his priorities have changed now that Sydney has spoken up. He believes that together, this is the best opportunity to strike down the rebels. He mentioned nothing of hacking the points, as if it wasn't important anymore. I'm calling it a feint."
Cal sits up, his back to the wall, looking into both Holly and Wren's eyes.
"If Sydney and Deo believe I can't be trusted, they would want to start feeding me false information. In response, I've done everything I can not to let the know I'm calling their bluff. I've been sending Sydney separate whispers repeating Deo's information as if it was sent to you guys, while you guys receive that and my thoughts. Deo named you two first, and I agreed with his proposition. If I was really a peacekeeper, deep cover in the rebel cause, why the fuck would I care about your safety? If I had tried to dissuade them or offer someone else, someone I was further away from, either they wouldn't believe me as a true peacekeeper or they would conclude that I've figured out Sydney has gone turn coat."
"I've been sending Sydney false whispers separate from my strategy whispers at the party. I'm describing a scenario where I had done less damage to Deo and am sure Sydney will assist with her arrow attacks. My goal is to give them the impression that we're grasping at straws trying to finish him off, enough so that our attention is pulled away from securing the Watchtower through hacking. I believe that is their ultimate goal today, not trying to off the Accord leadership."
He puts his hands down on the bed, taking another deep breath.
"I've already spent my actions attacking Deo, and Lartius and Holly can be trusted. That's 4 damage total, 2 damage if you don't believe me. If you don't like what I'm doing, then tell me. I will walk away from them, end my communications. Keep me out of the Accord's discussion, I can't contribute anything more than I have here. I don't even have to post anymore today, just wait it out until actions resolve. Make your own decisions, take my word as if it was worthless, don't give me another scrap of food, information or supplies. I will prove my worth, even if I have to do it alone."
Cal looks to Wren, his eyes remaining on him.
"You'll never trust me until I prove myself, which will be when I'm dead. If that happens... please keep going. This is bigger than any of us"

Wren made himself comfortable as he stretched out in his own bed, bumping Cal to the foot of the bed. "Cuddle party in the watchtower?" Wren joked, patting the spot next to him and winking at Gwen and Holly. "Cal, you almost had me back. Depending on how actions turn out, and if Holly or I are injured, your ass is on the line. I'm glad you've helped us out this far and have taken actions to support the accord, up until today. This is big. If you're going to play with people's minds, you have got to be more careful about doing it. I manipulated and played with Dante's head in the market before killing him. I've done this before, and I feel you're doing a shit job. I don't think you're going in the right direction with your intentions. You'd better fucking turn this around.
Get Deo to confirm us first with spying, because maybe we're undercover, too, and he wouldn't want to attack allies. Or, tell him we're not going after him and we're just scavenging and spying because that's the main point of the tower. Then when we're not all dead, he'd be worried we'd come after him for hitting us once or twice. Or do whatever. I don't care. JUST FIX IT."
Wren was fuming, and he felt sick from the sudden turn in emotions. He turned to Holly. "I'm so sorry. Obviously, my head and my heart haven't matched up for a while now. I think it's time I get back into my own head, because my heart is full of shit. If anything happens because of Cal's screw up, we'll have some accord business to discuss for sure...like editing the names at the bottom of our contract, and adding names onto the other list." Wren shot a look at Cal, which hurt him to do probably more than it would hurt Cal to see. "Don't you have somewhere to be?"

Holly chuckled. "Gwen has other cuddlers on her mind, let's be honest. But I don't mind having company." Holly joined him. Some human contact would be nice, even if its just as friends.Cal's words had done nothing to calm Holly. Moving farther away from him made her feel only marginally better. I'd like to punch you in the face.
"At face value, I can follow some of your reasoning. But, for someone as skilled at playing both sides as you are this is an exceptionally clumsy effort. I don't think we ever discussed my health, you had no way of knowing if ONE shot from them would finish me off. And regardless, you do not get to choose whose life to put on the line alone. You are not in charge here, we're in this together."
Holly was nearly speechless with anger and took a moment to compose herself.
"At least I thought we were. Maybe I should have listened to others warning me about you... Deo has attacked mercilessly before, your goals mean shit. If they think they're dead or nearly dead they won't feel all that bad hacking a few times and getting their punches in. But you went from new friend to potential enemy real fucking quick in my book. I don't appreciate the liberties you're taking with my life without even mentioning it to anyone, or me first. "

Cal shook his head. "You guys have fun, I think I'll sit this one out." He sighs, standing up from the bed, creating distance from himself and the others.
"With that you're right, I didn't consult either of you and there's no excuse for that. Your lives still matter, and its moronic to be gambling them when my paranoia has been proven wrong before. I'm sorry, and I can't take that back."
His gaze quickly turns to Wren before remaining between the three of them.
"Did you really think they had any doubt who was spearheading the accord? Doesn't matter at this point, but if you have time, do me a favor. When actions are posted, check the time stamps and compare them to my last post with Deo. If I'm wrong and have fucked all this up, at least you know I wasn't trying to cover my ass with a half-hearted attempt at following your orders. Fuck it, if I was really intent on throwing all you've worked for out the window, why would I share it with you all?"
Cal was breathing hard, but steadied himself. This wasn't helping, and he had work to do.
"I'll try and fix this. I'll still pass along their responses, for what its worth. Please capture the Watchtower, because there's shit I can do about that." He walks out of the room, hoping to find something worthwhile in this crowded tower.

We're ahead, by a decent margin. Even if the Peacekeepers take every location we'll be fine. I think all remaining actions should be focused on bringing Deo down, and once he is down, attacking Minerva. I most likely won't have enough food in the morning but I'll be fine tonight, we'll have to start focusing on resources now. But getting those vipers out of the picture is our priority. Even if we lose ground on the control points, taking them out helps to cripple their team making regaining that ground all the easier later."
Holly looked around at the group. "Do any of you have a current tally for damage done?"

I'm really sorry about what happened yesterday." "And for what it's worth, you & Demetri's kids would have kicked so much ass." "I'm waiting to hear from Val if I can use her gun, since she said she's bad at attacking. I think I found a baton for tomorrow, though. I'll use my last action to attack, either with Val's gun or my own two hands. Sydney whispered and said she got two arrows in and asked if she should do a third, but she could be bluffing or could be talking about shooting ME instead of Deo. I told her 'if you value your safety, you'll do what needs to be done.' I think we're at 4 if we aren't counting on Sydney, 6 if she's loyal to us which I doubt she is."
"As for Cal, he's been a huge softy in the relationship thing. He's been nothing but apologetic about his thing with Gwen, and has basically been trying to prove himself to me to earn my trust back after spying on me. He feared I was an undercover peacekeeper and was compromising the accord from the inside. I genuinely believe deep down he's loyal to us, he just went about things all wrong and seriously fucked up. Which, unfortunately, is practically as bad as actually being on their side at this point. We can't afford screw ups."

OR, if Val wants to use the gun and use her remaining actions to try and hit Deo despite not being good at attacking, it's at least worth a shot. "What uh..." she mumbled, "What is going on guys?" Valeria looked between the solemn faces she could even swear she read anger on some of them, "Is everything alright?" OOC: Cal only you can see this.
"You have to level with me," Val whispered, "which Cal is the real Cal?"
She frowned, "Look I can tell that you really do love Wren but the PeaceKeeper oath is a serious deal to some people. The only reason I can turn from it so easily is because I was more or less forced into it to save someone I loved. But for the very same reason I now can't turn away from the Accord."
"You've been a good friend," she said with a slight smile, "So even if you are still adherent to that oath I won't kill you. Just let me know so that I can take Holly and Gwen and get out of here. We'd stay out of your way after that."
"...I really hope this is an act though," her face clouded, "there's just no way to prove one way or the other. The best I can do is go with my gut and right now it's telling me to trust you. Please just let me know if I shouldn't. Holly and Gwen already planned their attacks for today and I won't attack you so you know you're safe." Val mumbled, "Just let me know who to point it at and confirm I should."

"Yesterday was awful. Today is arguably just as bad... for different reasons. I'm so sorry for all of this." "Thanks, I think we would have made glorious little battle hardened babies!" she said with a wry laugh. "Not a lot happened between us, but there could have been a lot more. I wish we'd had more time to find out what could have been. It doesn't matter now though, I'll cherish what time we had but we all need to move on and focus on what's to come." Holly looked up from her position on the bed with Wren and was glad to see Valeria had joined them. Maybe things will get a bit lighter."Okay? Ha, seems like their normal," she said nodding her head towards Wren and looking out to where Cal had gone, "I don't know. They seem to have a complicated relationship. But what do you expect?" Holly was glad to have a moment alone with Wren, she'd been meaning to tell him something.
"Wren, you should know I have been watching you. I'm telling you because I know you'll be hurt to find out later without any warning. Some people have had misgivings, particularly because of your relationship and I volunteered to spy on you to confirm you were a Rebel. I don't want to get into who was involved, there's no sense in sowing more seeds of distrust or feelings of betrayal. I'll be able to vouch for you and that should be enough to put an end to any small sliver of distrust that remains." Holly gestured for Valeria to come closer and continued. "Val, I think we still need to attack Deo, but if you want to spy on someone spy on Minerva or Lartius. Lartius is a rebel based only on Cal's claim and frankly right now I have a lot of distrust towards that man. But I think it's more critical we disarm or disadvantage Minerva, she's been working with Deo and has attacked with him before. She's likely to do it again and if we can mitigate that risk, all the better."
Holly turned to Wren and squeezed his hand reassuringly.
"I know you have a complicated relationship, and I know that whatever is happening between you and Cal needs to be worked out, one way or another. I also know that you love him. Deeply. But it's important that you realize I am only doing what's necessary to keep the Accord alive and intact... as much as possible. We all are. I hope your heart is right, and your mind can rest but I can't wholeheartedly trust him at the moment."

Wren hugged Holly again. She seemed like she needed one. Actually, Wren needed one, too. It had been a long day. "Lartius is a rebel, confirmed. He hacked and helped us out a few days ago. He has a baton and hit Deo once. Might use it more or might hack, he hasn't told me yet. Don't waste your time on him. He gave me info on confirmed rebels, which were ones I'd also confirmed. We can trust him.
Val, that gun has a -1 affect. I'm really concerned you're going to miss and we'll be wasting precious time. I know you guys don't totally trust me, but why would I organize everyone and share so much info if I weren't rebel? Seriously? I killed a peacekeeper and Dante. I began the accord with Millie and Eloise.
Holly, I wish you hadn't wasted an action but I'm glad it was you. I get it. But it was a waste. I know I've been playing at this ambiguously and that's been on purpose. But I hoped my past actions would have been proof. Obviously not.
And I know, we'll put Cal on hold until actions are revealed. Now Val, are you going to put the accord first and let us have a slightly better shot or are you going to go at this with an individual focus? You DID sign that accord contract...with a team focus...Don't screw us over. It's been a long enough day already."

"I understand where you're coming from," she continued, "and I know you're having a really bad day but morale is important and telling people they are "wasting" our time or that we are "screwing us over" is not a great way to foster any sort of teamwork."
She calmed herself down a bit before continuing, "I fired the gun at Deo and it missed horribly, I tried to steal his weapon and I failed at that too. I'm just as stressed out as you are right now. So let's all calm down, stop using aggressive language, and figure out what to do with my last action."
((OOC: I have a +2 to everything except attack where I have a +1. What health is Deo confirmed at so far?
Also...geeze Wren...))

Val sighed, she didn't like getting upset. It didn't look good on her. OOC: I COULD reroll that attack using a token but I don't want to do that unless he is for sure not dead. All of his attacks today will still land no matter what and do we need to attack Minerva?

Wren sat up and took a deep breath. He pulled his letters out of his boots and gave them to Holly. "Can I trust you with these? They're very important to me." Wren hands Holly the Accord contract and an apology letter from Cal, from days before. "In case I die or whatever. Have these." "You're right. I'm sorry for exploding. I just wish you guys could understand how much this all means to me. I've been expecting to die since the reaping. When this became a war with a team focus, I was thrilled. I've never had friends, so the chance to work with other people and make friends was appealing. I've put everything I have into the Accord since training days. Millie gave us the alcove and, although Sharlot was creeping in and didn't actually belong there, Eloise and I have remained loyal to the Accord and to Millie's goals. I fell in love with Cal, a peacekeeper. I wrote and hid a memoir about the war, and about wanting to actually have peace in Panem, and how I believe we can create something beautiful by working together with them at some point."
Wren took another breath. "So, when Cal spied on me, it crushed me. I get it, trust is hard. But I loved him enough to trust him, and allowed his actions to speak for him, because actions speak louder than words, blah blah. The word Peacekeeper didn't mean much to me. What mattered was Accord vs. Not Accord. This has been my focus the whole time. My goal is not to survive, but to serve the Accord as best I can while I'm still here. That's why I've been trying to trade information, putting my ass on the line with strangers up here the past few days (how I met Lartius and Nelson), and trying to get your assess organized and to stay productive.
I wish I was a vengeful undercover peacekeeper. It'd be way more interesting. But in truth, I'm just a gay, scrawny failure of a lumberjack that talks to birds and dreams of a world with peace. I know. It's lame.
And while I'm being honest, I was paranoid last night that you'd all followed me here to gang up and kill me for killing Dante or something. I dunno. So, I guess I didn't fully trust you all either. Holly, I trust you more than Val. Sorry, Val. I managed to punch Deo, so I think he's up to 5 and I believe Lartius might still have actions left. If we win the hack, and if we can get maybe 1 or 2 more hits on Deo, we MIGHT be able to kill him today. Val, try again if you want to. I think we've decided to wait on Minerva.
And even though I'm kinda upset at this situation, at Cal, at everyone for being a bit selfish...I'm still going to do my best to protect you because you're in the Accord. We can do this."
Wren got back into bed and looked around. "So...are we all relaxed enough for a cuddle party, now?"

"Yes.." Val smiled, "I think we are." "But I'll be right back," her smile turning to a grin, "I promised Gwen we'd find some food." OOC: IF you are able to kill him before the action deadline tonight let me know because I'll try to steal from Minerva instead. IF not, I'll spend my last action punching Deo in the face.

Taking the worn papers from Wren, Holly smiled. "I'll keep them safe." Holly hugged him and playfully smacked him on the back of the head as they parted.
"You worry too damn much."
She smiled.

Seeing someone else take put so much of their heart in a piece of paper made her feel a lot less guilty for still carrying around the contract in her pocket. Have any of you tried to grab the peacekeeper baton? I'd much rather we get it than Deo or Minerva. I have serious skill at scavenging so I could pick that up is Deo is taken care of.
