"Well, why do you think the big guy calls me Career?" Rolled a one, thought about it - scavenge the gun, if they did hack - I'll have something to fight with. If they didn't we'd still gain control, right?

Post by Demetri Messer on Dec 23, 2015 16:42:16 GMT -6
"I used to be a Peacekeeper until my brother and everyone else betrayed me." Demetri took a deep breath, trying to calm himself down. It seemed everyone had got the message and no one had hostile intentions. "So what about you, Freshman, Sweet Cheeks? What did you guys used to do before all this?" Yeah I already grabbed the guns. Guaranteed success on both. I think we'll win the hack with just 1 point. I doubt even these knuckleheads are stupid enough to take us both on in a fight. Though there is one other tribute here who may not have heard the conversation. She may be a bit of a wild card.
If we do find any Peacekeepers, I think they will likely run away. If they run to the market I say we let them go. No sense in crowding all the rebels together again. If they run to the Supply Depot I think we should follow them.

Thomas considered Demetri's question. "Honestly not a lot, it's not like I had a lying job or anything - I'm only 13!" Though it seemed like he worked enough that he should have had a job. "I mostly took care of my little sister and did whatever my aunt and uncle told me to do. Demetri, I can assure you that I know what it is to hate someone, but what made you kill your own brother?" Thomas was surprisingly not intimidated by Demetri... Demetri just seemed cool. Thomas was kind of fascinated by him, and it appeared that they wanted to accomplish the same thing. "Um I mean... You don't have to tak about it if you won't want to. "

"Before I got here I didn't really have a job," Minerva answered, "I would shadow my mother at the power plant, watching as she did all the engineering and chemistry to ensure that the capital had power. My dad was a security guard who was obsessed with the hunger games, war, and battle. He didn't give much of a crap about the individual tributes, but he loved seeing their strategies throughout the games, and he was one of the few people who..." she paused before continuing, "guess it doesn't matter now... he was one of the few to research before Panem was under control of the Capital."
She looked over at Demitri and Holly. "I'm not touching anything tonight, but I want to leave tomorrow, and I'd rather you not follow me..." She glanced over at Holly "No offense, but Demitri creeps me out."

"So you must know a decent amount about how to hack these computers, huh? I'm not so great at that kind of stuff myself." He considered what to do next.
He turned to Demitri and Holly "You guys are pretty open about being tribute rebels, that's pretty ballsy." Thomas liked that. "I know you guys made a lot of friends during the training days. Where they all rebels too? As I was leaving, I heard Cal... Or Cam... Whateverhisnameis telling that Val girl to turn on Wren because he was a tribute. So are the other two "out" peacekeepers?" It was a dangerous game, and Thomas wanted to know who he could and couldn't trust.

Day 2

Post by Janet Martin on Dec 23, 2015 22:05:29 GMT -6
Janet watched as the other tributes continued to squabble. All the intimidation seemed pretty childish, but she had to remember what her father had told her. There are two methods to control, one is through trust and the other through power, it seemed that Demetri was certainly a fan of power, Holly too, maybe. It was always hard to tell, and she certainly couldn't be quick to judge in these circumstances.
Hacking would piss some folks off, and for that she almost wanted to try. It wouldn't do any good, so she figured passing would be the best bet. "Keeping together might be a good plan, but I suppose since this is the Armory after all maybe you're looking for a good old fashioned black eye."
Janet kept her focus on Demetri, wanting to see if that was enough to rile him. She always found that getting someone angry at first was enough to get their instinctive response out them and typically men didn't like being called out by a woman. Demetri claimed to be a peacekeeper, but no one who had been trained in such a way could be so brash, he must be playing a game. Time to find out.
"What kind of misogynistic little man are you, Demetri?" Janet almost laughed as the venomous words dripped from her mouth.

Post by Holly Edison on Dec 23, 2015 22:19:58 GMT -6
Listening to the other tributes it was clear that there was distrust and tension surrounding their gathering. Not much I can do about Demetri, maybe everyone needs to have a drink with him to warm up. "Minerva, I can't tell you where we're heading next. If it's the same direction as you, so be it but as I said unless you have a problem with us - we don't have a problem with you. Demetri is a good friend to have, but maybe he isn't for everyone."
She listened then to Thomas, surprised by his eagerness and what had begun to feel like interrogation. You're full of questions, kid.
"I won't comment on secondhand gossip of a group I'm not even travelling with. And anyone who wants to declare their allegiances can do it for themselves. I'm a tribute and I want to live. No point hiding it to me, everyone is asking and eventually you have to answer but-"
Janet's comments stopped her. For fuck's sake, whatever happened to 'hello'? Provocation as information gathering, subtle. Holly decided to speak up. "You're more likely to turn him on rather than piss him off with comments like those, darling."

Tensions were growing in the group. In fact, things escalated VERY quickly. Hmm. Thomas figured that he should stay out of the Janet/Demetri drama. He decided to respond to Holly instead. "That's probably wise not to comment on. I let my curiousity get the best of me sometimes, I should probably not be so nosey." But didn't he have to be a little nosey to stay alive. He leaned in towards Holly and Demetri. "I'm a tribute too! I'm not as bold as you guys to proclaim it to everyone... But I tried to hack for the tributes last night, but lost to Minerva because we were evenly matched - and the computers were already in Peacekeeper control. Through that I learned that she is a peacekeeper. I trust you guys and I feel like I could learn a lot from the two of you."

Demetri spun around so see a new girl had entered the ring. "Well look who came out to play. I like the Mouth on you," Demetri grinned.
"I like a girl who's both a lover and a fighter. So Mouth, wanna tussle?"
He loaded his shiny new assault rifle.

Seeing the potential for a firefight Holly stepped in. "Alright, alright. Look, we can all be friends here or at the very least we can be friendly. IF we all agree." Maybe he was more hot-headed than she thought. So Demetri, right now we know Dante, Valeria, and I think Cal are Peacekeepers. We're sure Janet & Minerva are then? Can you think of anyone else? Holly turned to Dante. "Are you on our side then? Are you coming with us?" She hoped the answer would be yes.

'Certainly not how I planned this move working out.'
Thought Dante, eyeing the other tributes' weapons and supplies. Pulling a trio of Capitol Green cigarettes from their tattered box, he offered them to the tributes around the armory. "Thanks for the offer, Holly. Means a lot that we keep something of our drinking group alive! You know I can't go with you two, whover comes out on top in this conflict is going to punish their traitors on the other side.
Wish you two make it out of the city, somehow."

Thomas took a cigarette from Dante, and lit it. He'd never smoked a cigarette before. He brought it to his lips and inhaled. Almost as soon as the smoke touched his throat he began coughing violently.
"Oh... God. People pay money for these?" He thought about chucking it to the ground, but then remembered trust resources may be limited. "Does anyone else want this?"

"Say, did you guys work out which of you 'won' that hacking of yours back on the first day? Or did you both win?
Either way, both Holly and Demetri are working towards that not happening again. I'd advise whoever won to get out of range from the bearded maniac over there. "Haha, you get used to the flavor Thomas." Taking the offered cigarette back, Dante demonstrated a short drag that sent a shimmering green smoke skyward.

"I guess so! I do t think I'm cutout to be a smoker." Thomas already has a reputation for asking a lot of questions, so he figured he might as well embrace it. "I'm thinking of getting out of here tonight... Maybe going to the Supply Depot. Are you guys sticking around or heading out?"

Janet was only a little surprised by Demetris response to her provocation. He seemed like a hot headed sort, and she was right about that. Holly had stepped in to cool the situation, and friendliness was a welcome change.
"I don't like pet names, but I suppose Mouth might be accurate sometimes. Mind if I snag one if those, Dante? I suppose it couldn't hurt."
Janet had smoked on a few occasions in the past, but only in celebration. This was definitely a detour from that tradition. Hopefully she could patch things up with this group before she went along on her way.

Giving Dante a final hug she left with Demetri.
