Julian looked at the plants in front of his feet. The groundskeeper gave him a few quick facts and asked him which he thought would be suitable to eat. How was he supposed to know?? I'm 12 years old not a freaking botanist. "It all looks like green stuff to me." He moved his hand to the farthest plant on the left. "That one."
"Good," stated the groundskeeper. "Now try and see which one is poisonous"
Julian rolled his eyes--"Fine." He secretly hoped he would choose correctly.

"You can eat this one," Julian handed the poison plant to the groundskeeper. They grimaced and turned away as Julian doubled over with laughter.

Taking in his surroundings, Cal couldn't help but feel an odd familiarity with the setup. With the bordering forest next to District 12, it was strange seeing the plants on his side of the metal wall.
Scanning the room, Cal quickly passed his attention over the boy on the floor laughing to look upon Holly and Dante. Their confident and open discussion seemed promising, considering the essential nature of this skill. Who knows, he could even be witnessing a budding friendship.
"Hello, yes, thank you." he quickly nodded to the instructor, snatching up the offered book on edible plant life. Taking a seat to the side of the couple, he attempted to feign reading and eavesdrop upon their conversation.

Overhearing their closing remarks, Cal was disappointed to see the team leave so early. At the very least he had picked up some pointers, maybe he could apply it to his own studies for foraging.
"Alright, Page one..."

While everyone was talking Minerva decided to spice things up a little bit. Walking around quietly, she began to mix some of the similar looking plants together. A few powders mixed, a few leaves intertwined, a few flowers tossed up. It would make it confusing to say the least, and lead to a few stomach aches if anyone ate the wrong things. She hoped nobody had seen her, and waited for the inevitable fallout.

After an hour or two of intense study, the slight differences between each of the plant species began to stick out in Cal's mind.
"As a general rule of thumb, green is good, red is bad, movement is very bad, as are most noises emitted by plants."
He plops his head on his book, the best of his efforts expended.
"Well, there's always sponsors. Let's hope one of them owns a bakery."

Turning his head to the side of the book, he's surprised to find a young woman attempting to mix up the plants laid out on his station.
"You can quit it, I've already done all I can." Cal says, looking up to Minerva, his head still resting on the book.
"Also, rude. And loud. You might want to get some rest yourself." he gives her a teasing smile as he begins to walk towards the door.
