As you travel across a chamber designed as a river valley, you come upon a massive concrete dam with four rushing conduits, and begin to scale it’s broad exterior. Suddenly the water begins to rush faster and faster, and the walls begin to fracture. If these walls don’t hold you’ll have to swim through the raging waters. Action | Requirement | Result | Hold it together | Athletics 5 | If successful, advance to next location
If failed, this action is disabled. You and all remaining tributes must instead "Swim Against Current"
(You may only attempt this action once) | Swim Against Current | Athletics 7
Only available if a tribute fails "Hold It Together" | Advance to the next location
(You may attempt this action multiple times) |
Penalty: If you do not complete the event, you are swept away by the river. Lose 2 HP.

Ox forgot about the other tributes there and ran up to the Dam huffing in his effort.
"I got this shit." He said determined. Bracing his back and arms against the damn and pressed back on it. The dam groaned and so did Ox.

With a roar Ox pushed with his legs and snapped the Dam back into place so hard that he was afraid he had broken it pushing it the other way. But when the Dam stayed he grinned and turned to see his friend Arnie... And three Careers. Ox gulped.

Seeing the four other tributes gathered around the Level 6 floor gave Tristan an odd moment of nostalgia.
"Leagues between that fancy party in the Capitol and us now, eh?" He smiled at the memory. "Forgotten the taste of everything but that cider..."
Stretching out his legs from the cramped hovercraft ride he nodded toward the District One tributes.
"How was your flight, you two? You left me to die with Judkins and Farrow earlier; a fair choice on your part."
Ox strained against the dam as Tristan casually leaned against the crumbling structure and seemed to notice him for the first time.
"'Hoy, Oxen! Haven't seen you much since we got here, though you seem like you're doing well. Met your friend Seth earlier; let's just say he will have an even harder time walking nowadays..."
The grin that spread across Tristan's face was a mask of cruel glee as he looked back toward the other tributes.
"Seems like you're all in my world now, mates..."
The young sailor from District Four grabbed a handful of crumbling mortar from the dam and dropped it to the ground. Cracks begin to form along the rest of the mortar as the pressure builds from behind.
"...hope you know how to swim."

Ox held himself against the dam still and grinned at the boy from district 4. without pulling himself away from it he smiled back at Tristan.
"I swim just as well as you do little fishy." Ox said grinning wolfishly, "I bite harder too I bet." He snarled. Ox let go of the Dam and pulled his Axe on Tristan. He wouldn't let the boy break the Dam and drown his friend Arnie. He would deal with the District 1 twins later.

Arnie laughed as Tristan attempted to break the dam with a meager effort. "Nice try you little shit. Too bad you won't live to see it fail."
Arnie used his legs to force the dam into place and keep the cracks from spreading.
Hold it together, Athletics.

*OOC* I was intentionally breaking the dam by failing the 'Hold-it-Together' roll, note the die roll of 1-1. Unless I'm misunderstanding the rules up top, the dam is broken from my 'failed' roll and now everyone else has to take a 'Swim against the current' check.

OOC I don't think the damn is broken, I think we just need a ruling from Jeff on whats going on here.

Only Jorn has successfully made it past the dam. He held the dam together as he crossed the chamber. Then Tristan breaks the dam, meaning everyone except Jorn must complete "Swim Against Current" to avoid the penalty.

Anton hopped out of the hovercraft. "How was your flight, you two? You left me to die with Judkins and Farrow earlier; a fair choice on your part." Tristan replied.
Anton looked over, "I gave you the plan. But, it's good to know you can hold you own." He smirked and turned to Ingrid. "We even had some fun of our own!" He gave a small laugh.
Tristan then tore down the dam and Anton bounced in place as he readied himself for the water. "Well this oughta be good."

But, the water was much harder and faster than Anton thought as it nearly washed him out of the tower. He climbed back through the structure and gave it another try.

Ingrid descended from the hovercraft and landed next to her brother...she arrived just in time to see the damn break. It was time to sink or swim. Literately.

Ingrid barely made it across. She watched her brother in the water struggle. She wished she could help him. Tensions were high and good will was in short supply.
