Seth opened the doors to the media library. It was quiet and empty. The space resembled a classroom with rows of desks, each with a separate screen projector. He sat down at the nearest desk, propping his cane against the side of it. He turned on the display and began scrolling through the archives of the past Hunger Games.
There must be some strategy to these games. It can’t all be chance, he thought as he watched replay after replay. Perhaps there’s something the previous winners had in common.
Without realizing, he spent hours watching highlights and found himself becoming captivated by the previous victors.

V lightly skipped into the Media Library. She saw a lone boy, the kid from District Five sitting at a computer console. She chose a spot near him and sat down, "Nice day isn't it? Why aren't you out in the garden or showing off like the others?"

Compound monitors barred Tristan from entering the library with the tray of food he had taken from the kitchens. Confiscating the tray had left the young man sultry as he passed rows of holo-books, video terminals and nearly bumped into Seth and V.
"Fortunate to see you again, Braxt- V. Seems you and Judkins got an early start here. Sighting that pile of video drives; you've probably learned the ropes by now."
A trio of oranges slipped out of Tristan's vest pockets into his callused hands. He set one on Seth's desk, another near V; then sat himself back into the neighboring desk.
'I guess it was nice to meet you.' Yelled a young man on the view screen, lightning raged as he began grappling with a woman over a knife. The camera's shifted dramatically and the dramatic soundtrack quickened as the woman was thrown over the side of a monstrous toad.
"Depths below!" Cursed Tristan. "Beck deserved better than that."

"Learned the ropes to what?" V asked. "I already know how to kill and gut prey", she said as she took a bite from the orange, peel and all. "What?' she asked. "The fiber from the rind prevents diarrhea and the oils are essential, ever hear of rabbit-starvation?" She said with a quick shot at Seth and then back to her telescreen.

"What's the point in showing off now?" said Seth in response to V's question. "The sponsors won't be voting until the Skill Session."
Seth noticed Tristan also studying the previous Hunger Games. Last year's finale flashed on his screen.
"I don't think Kimber ever wanted to win," said Seth. "But she was amazingly loyal and fought to keep her friends alive. How do you think Agni and Millie did it? Interesting that they were both close-combat fighters, huh? And they both had long range support with Leevy and Jaden."

"In District Four, we have a stigma for those that die by drowning. Everything drowns in pairs, you see." Tristan twisted his right arm toward Seth, exposing a tattoo of two bodies face-down among waves.
"Verittia and Zinten," said Tristan, pointing to each of the bodies on his arm. "Drowned."
"Mandela from Four was killed in the cornucopia; leaving Beck drowning alone."
Tristan shivered and seemed too shrink in his chair.
"Never saw that Cartwright girl at the party, but Sparks was there. Could have learned more from him if I had understood half what that guy was saying.
What's your take on this, V? How would you captain a crew?"

"But the sponsors are always watching aren't they?" V said in response to Seth's question; as she spied a camera off in the corner of the high-vaulted ceiling.
"Is that some nautical reference there capt'n, or are you asking about actually leading a team through the cornucopia?" She said with a slight chuckle. "Honestly, I'm not sure how I'd handle a management roll. Don't get me wrong, I know a thing or two about getting by, even working cogently with others, but a battle royale is a bit beyond my expertise." "If you had a gun to me right now, I guess I'd say gather the most diverse team we could, now. Develop whatever skills we could exchange in the coming days and take the remainder by a combination of brute force and cunning, the emphasis being on cunning. You can't kill someone as easily as you can get someone killed. know what I mean? Arrogance, or better yet, ignorance; is one's worse enemy."

Ayla walked Ito the library- having had her fill of food after a good workout.
She saw V and the sailor boy talking. What were they saying, something about cornucopia?
She walked in and began looking through old newspaper clippings about the games in year past.

Alistair walked into the media library to see the other tributes discussing strategy on the other end. It honestly made him want to laugh because none of them were getting out alive. But hey, let them have their moment while they still could. He took a seat near the others to listen in to what they were saying as he scrolled through past Hunger Games and observing it halfheartedly, taking note especially of the past use of setting. The environment was either going to help them or kill them.
