Day 10

Post by Jaden Fox on Aug 27, 2013 22:17:38 GMT -6
Jaden and Millie returned to the island to meet up with Millie.
"Millie! You're alive!" He eyed her bloodied blade. "What happened to you?"
Jaden felt an urge to have a moment hugging his teammates, but suppressed it. There could be a tribute nearby and they had to be alert at all times.
"I killed Alys and Natalya with the help of Kimber. I only have a couple more arrows and I'm pretty weak. Natalya stole my bow and beat me up, but I got it back from her after I killed her. These wounds are bleeding, but my naturally healing body seems to be canceling the effects out. This is it guys. We're in the top five and we outnumber our enemies. Let's finish this so one of us can go home."

Relief flooded through Kimber at seeing Millie alive. Good thing she left the sword to her. She eyed Jaden's wounds. Sure he seemed to be healing quickly, but that wasn't cause to just go rushing into another fight.
"Should we relax for a day? Heal up? Regain our strength? We should take our time now that there isn't so many people to worry about."

"The longer we relax and heal up, the longer our enemies do too. As long as I have my bow I'm guaranteed to get the first shot off and I'd rather our enemies have as little health as possible to make sure that shot kills them before they get to me."
Jaden's face was cut and bruised and his left eye was puffy. Jaden stared directly at Kimber. It was intimidating to see him like that. If he ever needed that eyepatch, now would've been a good time to have it.
"There's no way I'm not going home. Not when I've come this far."

Day 10

Post by Millie Cartwright on Aug 29, 2013 16:30:40 GMT -6
Millie stood stunned over the body of Age; blood driping from her knife. Her friends were here but... "I didn't..." Millie stammered, "She came out of- I was so weak...not thinking...I just wanted everybody to..." She fell to her knees with a thud.
All she had wanted to do was to find a way for everyone to survive to put an end to this ridiculous notion that some solitary city can decide the fate of children from around the country. And now. And now here friends were here to see her like this...
Her friends saw her in all her hypocrisy.
Her friends...
The world faded away as Millie loosened her grip on the world around her. She had been hurting for so long. Acting toigh for so long. Smiling for so long.
Maybe it was time to stop.
"Friends"
The solitary word shot through her head like a brilliant streak of light.
They had come back to her because they had worried about her. They hadn't left her behind when they could have gone ahead and been much closer to winning without her because they cared about her. maybe that seed of hope she had planted back there in that library alcove had actually sprouted. She couldn't stop now they had to rely on each other to realize the mission that had been set in to motion in that green house ten days ago.
Millie stood up and wiped the dirt from her knees and smiled softly at the two tributes in front of her looking vulnerable for once. Yep. They were going to have to rely on each other from here on out and things were about to get a bit rougher.
"Jayden?" she mused in a sing song tone, "Were you about to hug the two of us right now?" There wasn't a hint of lust or romance in the question. No, it was more the way a sister would mock her younger brother in front of his friends. But it fit.
They were a family now.
Or as close as you could come to it in the arena.
"So," she said looking around, "I've had a rough day as you can see." "And it looks like you two have have dealt with some problems in the last two days as well," she continued noticing a small blood speckle on them.
This would only work so long as they continued their mission as before so it was best they put this mess behind them. "Well, I promised we would get out of this together and we still have more than half of us alive so I think we haven't failed just yet. We just need to put what has already happened behind us and honor the pact we made to leave this place as an accord!"
"I say we stay here and rest up for the day if there aren't any objections. Quinn may very well still be around here he threw down a smoke pellet and disapeared when I couldn't bring myself to kill him. Ok lets talk-" she cleared her throught.
"No not here..."
"Lets um talk strat-" she cleared her throat again.
"It's too late I'm past the point of keeping it in."
Her eyes welled up a bit and she started to sniffle between soft choked sobs she managed to get out, "I'm sorry...I shouldn't be *sniff* weak like this its just that I *sniff* got left behind and I didn't think I'd ever see you two again." Millie wiped the small stream off her face that she hoped had blended in with the thunderstorm pouring down on them.
"I think I could use a hug," she said as she smiled softly which accentuated her now softly read cheeks.
"But THEN we need to come up with some strategy," the usual fire returned to her eyes, "I mean we're finishing this together one way or another."

((If there are no other plans before ten I'm going to go with:
1.Stealth 2. Scout 3. Rest
We have one more day after today's actions before the island sinks and I don't know if there is any other stable land around us to go to. So if we don't find somewhere to go by the end of the day we should all call in a sponsor gift tomorrow in the hopes of getting a raft for us to ride around in. I have a tent so I'll set it up for us to use to stay out of the rain.))

Kimber was overwhelmed when Millie started to cry. So she did the only thing she thought to do. While Millie may have requested a hug the closest thing Kimber could think of was to pat Millie on the head, like Derrin did to her once. She remembered it being oddly comforting. She hoped Millie would feel the same.
