Day 7

Jaden watched the hovercraft lift David's body into the air, his two arrows sticking straight up out of his chest. He had never fully trusted David, and he had wished he had said something sooner. But, in the end, Jaden was still a step ahead of David and that made all the difference in these games.
The accord was down to three.
They were alone for the time being, but definitely not safe. Age had fled to the East where Mallory had been killed. Hopefully whatever was there would get her too.
Kimber returned to camp carrying two full water bottles.
"Thanks," Jaden said, taking a drink from his own bottle. "What did you see over there, Kimber? Any sign of something that might have gotten Mallory?"

Day 7

Kimber entered their campsite as David was being lifted into the air. She was a bit sad to see him go, but perhaps it was for the best that he died. His illness seemed to be getting worse and was too much of a hassle to maintain. The face Kimber truly cared that showed up in the fake sky was her district mate, Derrin. She felt a sort of coldness go through her. A craving for morphling hit her for the first time since the games started.
"I saw Dolan over there. Watched as he took down a boar. He seemed pretty badly injured after that so maybe Age will finish him off. Glad to see we have a tent. How are you feeling Millie?"
Kimber looked to Jaden and Millie. They were all that remained. She did a pretty bad job at protecting the other two, but with two left it would be an easier task to manage. She glanced down at the shield she picked up without thinking at the cornucopia. It was a bit ironic that she should get it. Perhaps she should do what it stood for a bit better. She tried to focus on that instead of the fact that the announcement of the new sponsor items included morphling tablets.
It wasn't working too well.

Millie wasn't looking great and Jaden could tell that her health was failing. Jaden rummaged through David's bag and pulled out a plant with small flowers.
"David had said this was a medicinal plant when he found it. I'm not an expert, and I'm not sure how good David's word is anymore, but this might be your only shot. You willing to risk it?"
Jaden crawled out of the cramped little tent. The Game Makers had adjusted the arena's themostat and it was starting to get warmer again. He could feel his hands now. It was admitably a lucky shot -- two lucky shots -- hitting David square in the chest when his fingers were so numb.
"So I think we ought to stay here on this island for a day, maybe two at the most. Let the tributes to the East battle and hopefully one of them will be gone tomorrow. My money's on Dolan winning that fight, weakened or not. But you two should try to get some of those better weapons from the sponsors and then we should finish off whoever is left there.

"Ok," Millie said through a strained voice. She was trying to still seem tough. To be someone who could help lead this team to the goal she had established ok it's founding. But she was sure every one could tell that she was not doing all that well right now. Another day with this sickness and she probably was going to die so why not take the chance with this herb.
Millie reached out and took the flowering herb and only paused for a second before consuming it. "Well," she said staring up at Jayden, "It's in Fate's hands now." She smiled weakly, "and as for what to do tomorrow we should all sandbag at the same time tomorrow. Make it the second thing you do in the day if possible."
