Cal listened carefully to the words of his friends, speaking warmly of families old and new. Future plans to socialize and keep in touch. The hope of living to see next week. He gave Eloise an encouraging nod, admiring Thomas's work. After a small smile to the group, he moved to a couch on the far side of the room and curled up in a ball. He really was happy for them, no sense in spoiling the mood. It's cool Eloise, them's the dice and I know you'll finish this war. I'm still holding off on my roll for Reese's attack, I'd like to know that its dead.

Wren sat next to Cal on the couch and leaned on him, slowly rubbing Cal's shoulder. He know what was on his mind. He smiled at Eloise's hair. "It looks great. Maybe it'll be a new trend when you go home to Six after all this." He turned back to Cal. "Hey. You should come on a walk with me for a minute. I want to show you something." "Okay, guys. So we pretty much know Eloise will be safe. Thomas, Reese, if either of you have enough health to take a hit, a team-focus decision would be to hack rather than spy on the hovercraft since a hit could kill some of us today or tomorrow. BUT I know we're getting down to the wire, everyone wants to live, and everyone's more worried about themselves than the Accord at this point. I understand if you want your spy attempt. You're entitled to it. I just thought I'd consider my own life, for once. If I'm hit today, I'll be just clinging on to life (down to 1 HP) and will definitely die tomorrow. If you can live with that, go ahead and save your own asses. I understand."

Cal's snaps to attention when Wren leans on him, but he allows himself to relax as he received a shoulder rub. He nods his head to Wren's suggestion and leave the room for a little while. Wren, I think you're letting your own mortality overtake your intent for the Accord to succeed. So far, everyone's made the decision to do what's needed for the group, which to begin has been taking down the muttation. Our second objective will be to hack the point, retain control for the Rebels. Everyone who can will contribute a hack to the roll, and I expect everyone will put in at least one Spy attempt to keep themselves alive. We'll let the odds decide our fate as a group.
I don't expect or encourage anyone to take the bullet today, that's not fair to anyone. Everyone has their choice, and I'd prefer if we all undertook the risk equally. So Wren, if you attempt to use your next action to save your skin AND we lose the Hospital to the peacekeepers, don't expect a warm reception/ending from Cal. As always, these are your choices, people. If Reese slays that monster, I'm taking my last action to try and evade the hovercraft, same as anyone else.

Wren and Cal returned to the room, to continue discussing their progress throughout the day. Wren looked over at Anna, who'd been quiet this whole time. I wish I could get to know her...I'm sure she's nice...ooc: Okay, guys. So I never meant it as "die for me so I can live." Everyone's life is important. Holly & Wren have both been fans of spreading out chances, leveling out food/hunger and damage to keep as many people alive at the end as possible. If I was in prime shape and could help out an ally, I'd do it. But that's me. And I'm not in prime shape so unfortunately I can't help much.
I just meant if anyone has 7 or 8 HP and enough food, assuming we win day 9, then more people could live if we spread out the damage. We wouldn't all be in peak condition, but we wouldn't have to lose anyone. And if there are more teamwork/pod/muttation things coming, you'll want as many people there to help as possible. Please don't take that as me being selfish. I'm just trying to stick by what the Accord's set up as part of the contract we wrote up.
Here's one of the Accord's terms: "We agree to split up duties and hardships and communicate with each other to coordinate when possible"
It's your choice, and I respect that. I just felt I needed to try and stick to the Accord's terms and offer that as an idea to consider.

Wren went on a walk. He visited the room he'd shared with Cal, the rehab PT room he'd chatted with Thomas in, the corners where they'd found the pods, and the operating room he'd shared a dance with Cal in. He needed to clear his head. The pressure of the past few days had been eating away at him. Finally, he returned to the main area of the hospital. "You guys...I'm so sorry for being paranoid and selfish. I've...been in a dark place for a few days, now. Turns out, the more friends you make, the more determined you are to protect them. And, the more people start to care about you, the more you want to keep yourself safe to keep them happy and help them out more in the future. It's fucking hard to balance that. And I'm sorry. I'll try to be strong again, for everyone. Know that I love and appreciate you all, and all of your efforts to help out in this mess." Wren addressed the known rebels, "I definitely succeeded on spying on that hovercraft (12). I'm sorry, guys. I'm sorry for being selfish. Maybe some more of you will be just as lucky, you never know. I understand if you're upset with me. But I hope we can still be a family...." Wren looked down, as he felt guilty for feeling safe for the first time in this war.

Reese cruised on back over to the crew, "Well fellas, tally that one Reese 1 - Zombie monstrosity 0, that's one less thing for us all to worry about."

Cal grins at Reese's returns, extends a hand to give her a high five with. "Well done, now we just have to figure out what to do about them." pointing up to hovercraft above the roof. Reese, how many actions do you have remaining? By my count we have no hacks on the point yet, but you'll want to save at least one action to evade the hovercraft.

"Way to go Reese! That's so great!" He offered her a hug. "I knew you could do it".
He then considered the situation of the pods from above. "I understand everyone's point of view. Wren, of course you want to live, no matter how much of a team player you are - you gotta save yourself. I am going to try to do the same, but it seems little pointless. Reese and Cal - how have your attempts to dodge the hovercraft gone? I'm only asking because if it's pointless for me to even try I won't, but if I have a shot, I'll leave it up to the fates and give it a try. I will definitely use my third action for the team's benefit - to help our cause. I give you my word on that one."

OOC: Clutch.
Cal maneuvers around the room, keeping an eye for the Windows and the hovercraft overhead. His actions lead him to follow Eloise's footsteps, ending right next to her. He looks up at Thomas.
"I did as good as her..."

"That is what that is. Good for you guys. I mean it. I just appreciate you telling me. The hovercraft can go ahead and come at me. Honestly, like Wren said - more people will be alive tomorrow, since I'm pretty healthy." "It wouldn't be possible for me to dodge the hovercraft at this point, so I appreciate you all being honest with me. Instead, I'm going to try to get the morphling, since I'll be hurting pretty bad tomorrow. Has anyone else tried to get it? I will also hack for the rebels, since I did not help shooting the monster. Has anyone else hacked yet? Reese, I understand that we are probably in the same boat with the hover crafts. How many shots did it take you to kill the muttation? We'll probably both try to get the morphling, and we'l see who is lucky this time."

Wren congratulated Reese, "Nice job! Thank you for that. Glad we can count on you." He smiled as Cal entered with a confident air about him. Thomas I rolled 3 looking for morphling.
No idea if Reese has actions left or what she'd do with them.

"She's great, isn't she? Was it hard to take the beast down, Reese?" "I know you said earlier that you are going to die tomorrow if you don't take your morphling now, dodge the hovercraft, and get more morphling. I don't follow - how low on food are you? If you have 4 health... but then you took the morphling doesn't that bring you back up to six? Then if you are only short one day of food you'd only be back down to 5, right?"

Cal gives a small smile to Wren, but it fades when listening to Thomas's words.
"I understand. You won't have to make the same choice tomorrow, not if I have anything to do with it."

Wow. Cal is a stand-up guy, probably the least selfish person I've met so far Thomas was impressed.
"Thanks man! It's all okay. It came down to luck in the end. I understand where you and Eloise were coming from, you both did your part trying to take down that thing and you deserved to be rewarded. I'm honestly not that great of a spy anyway, even with my recording device. I'm just glad everyone was honest so that I didn't waste my time."

Wren frowned, slightly."Thomas, everyone deserves a chance if they want it. The decision is up to you. Hell, I may have been really helpful early on but lately I feel somewhat useless..." He looked away. "It's like all my energy is draining, and when I would normally step up, others beat me to it so I fade back into the shadows. I probably don't deserve an award for being most humble or most selfless at this point, or even most helpful, but I started out that way..." Wren frowned more, as he recalled his days during training. "I guess I've really let this war get inside my head. Sorry..." Wren shook his head. "I wish I could have helped out more." ooc: Thomas Windsnip, I'll be at 4 hp today if I'm not hit. If I live through day 9 and don't get hit at all, I'll end day 9 with 1 HP due to hunger. I'm worried about Anna or Sharlot hitting me, though. I'm chatty and assertive, which comes across as mouthy apparently, and people don't like that... And Sorry for being selfish lately. This isn't a good side of Wren...I feel like Reese stomped on him and all of his efforts, and he's crumpling. As long as Anna doesn't get the morphling, we can discuss who uses it tomorrow after actions & HP are dealt with.

"I understand where you're coming from. Most people put themselves first when it comes down to it. I can't say i am any less selfish, I guess I'll have to decide that tomorrow. I guess we'll have to see what Vester throws at us for day 9, and whether or now we'll all be able to survive that. Depending on how awful the challenges we face are.. If they're extreme, I may have to take it myself (if I get it. I scavenged better than you, but we will see how Reese and Anna do). Honestly, I probably won't even get the morphling, but we'll just have to see." "So you are at 4 AFTER taking the morphling that you got yesterday?"
