Eloise woke up with a startle. She was in a room alone, in an abandoned house in the market. It seemed like not too long ago she was dining on the Capitols finest foods. Now she needed to figure out how she was going to survive, and play her part in this war. After escaping the training center, she found herself in the market with Wren, Holly, Demetri, & Wallace. Dante was supposed to follow suit but hadn't shown up yet. Eloise hoped he was alright. He was the strategist in the ragtag group that decided to come here and she would miss having him around to help her figure out what to do.
"Well he's not here is he?" she said out loud knowing no one else could hear. She should find the others and talk to them about their next move. Wren was probably nearby. Maybe in another room in this house, even.
It was about midday before Eloise had been able to find all of the would-be tributes to discuss their next steps.
"I think we should all scavenge for food first. We might not all find some, I don't know how much is going to be hanging around, but it's a start. After that maybe we can have two of us see if we can hack into the capitol at all to see if we can get a better idea of what's going on. Maybe see if they've captured any of our friends? I'd say we should all try, but I don't want us to draw attention to where we are. Maybe myself and Wallace give it a try? Anyone else have any ideas?

Demetri found Eloise curled up in an abandoned house.
"Hey, Gorgeous!" Demetri said. "You're a sight for sore eyes. I thought everyone had disappeared."
"If we're all going to work together we're going to have to coordinate a bit. If we all scavenge for food we're just going to overlap and waste our time out there. I already spent some time looking because I'm a damn good forager so there may not be a whole lot left. Though I'm no good at this hacking business. That'd be a waste of my time. Anyone else want to give it a go?"

Wren wandered into a deserted house to find Eloise and Demetri chatting. His brotherly intuition hoped Demetri wasn't creepin' on Eloise, but he figured she could take care of herself. Besides, Demetri was proving to be more charismatic than Wren had originally thought. If he wants to call her gorgeous, that's their business. She's pretty cute, I guess. I can't really blame him. Plus, I wish I could grow a beard like that...
Wren walked in and greeted them. "Good morning..er afternoon. I'm not really sure how long I slept. I did as much work as I could while my adrenaline was running, so I guess I'm all rested up now with not much to do."
He caught the end of Demetri's question about hacking. "I did what I could. Let's just hope it was enough...I'm not sure how this will all pan out. I guess we'll get an update sooner or later, though. How was your night?"

Holly emerged from behind a stall. "Morning, everyone. I heard some of that, I was just on my way back from picking through what's here. I think I found some food. I gave my best try towards getting control of this area but I don't think I made much headway. Maybe one of you guys could give it another shot? It's honestly not my forte. Anyway, I think we need to talk." Looking around at the tributes who had made it to the market, Holly was surprised to see Wallace. "I don't see Dante." "He was supposed to follow us and didn't. I think we need to discuss what that means. We can stick to the plan, and move to the Armory - but if Dante was playing us, that means he knows where we're headed and potentially if he isn't an ally we'd be walking into a trap as our movements have been planned for the next several days. Now, he could have just been unlucky and had to jump ship to a different spot for fear of being caught. But I think this is a discussion we need to have as a group. We either move to the armory next, or we change our plans and decide what to do about Dante when we find him again - welcoming him back or not. Thoughts?"

Eloise was getting anxious. In all the chaos, Dante's calm confidence in what they should do had been reassuring. Now she hoped that he wasn't captured by Peacekeepers. Or worse...
"Should we stick to Dante's plan and stay here? I bet he would make his way to us eventually if he could. Maybe we send a couple of people to the armory and leave some here to see if he comes back."

Wren was glad to see Holly. He shrugged at Eloise's comment and rubbed his arm. "As much as I'd love to stick together...I'm a little worried about this thing getting infected. I've been considering taking the shorter route for some med supplies...plus, our skills might be useful at the watchtower at some point. I DO think weapons can be important, and staying for Dante isn't a bad plan, but...I think I need to prioritize here." I almost wonder if Dante left late on purpose...? It's a shame, though. He had good plans. Maybe if we head to watchtower some of our larger group will be hanging around and we can trade info? I did spy once...so I'm interested in seeing what info that gets me.

Wallace had stayed quiet until now, he was tired and confused as to what had exactly happened the night before. "I'll give hacking this thing a try" Wallace said evenly. "I think gathering what food we can from this area and tending to a plan is our best bet at the moment" He sat on the ground calmly and rubbed his hand along the ground. "Any thought as to where we should head next after we take care of this area?"

"I think we should stick with the plan and stay here or else we'll never find Dante. Also, if we can hold the main food source, all the other tributes should be getting weak by the time we encounter them." When Demetri gets Holly and Wren alone, he adds, "I think we should move out. If we're one of the largest groups we should be able to take on any competition. By staying here we're not making any progress. So I think we capture the Market and move on to the Armory to get some firepower. I spied on Gorgeous so we'll see if she's trustworthy, and if someone else spies on Beanie we can decide if we should invite them along or leave them here. Chatty, you're good in my book for now unless you turn into a whiny bitch."
"We don't have any reason to doubt Dante yet. And even if he does turn on us, there's too many of us for him to risk attacking. When we find him we'll have our best Spy watch him to see what he's up to."

"Yes, they would be weak... They will also be desperate however, and some of them are coming from the armory..." Wallace rubbed his forehead with one hand. "But I wouldn't want to leave Dante behind either, especially if he is making his way here." Wallace nodded "So let's bank on Dante getting here and then we can make a plan once we have as much food as we can find."

Wren looked at the others and shrugged. "Personally, I want to wait for an update on what's happening around us before I set my mind on something. But once we get info, we should definitely talk this out." Wren leaned in to Holly and Demetri. "I spied on Wallace. I'll share what I learn. I'd really like to trust Eloise... She's been with me since we started the Phoenix Accord idea... But then again, so was Sharlot and I'm not sure on her anymore. Depending what happens today in other areas and what we learn from spying, I'm considering watchtower... Spying will help us know who to attack. And I need the meds..."

Holly considered all their options. There isn't any reason to assume Dante had deserted us yet, we need to make a plan. "Wallace, I don't know much about you. What are you good at? If you're with us for now, I'd like to know what you bring to the table." "I've done all I can here. I think I could do some more good by staying, I'm a pretty good scavenger, but I can hold my own in a fight too. I think Demetri and I should go to the Armory and return here after we can get our hands on whatever is available. Wren, you've only gotten stronger since the training days and should it be necessary I think you can help protect Eloise, I know you're not comfortable leaving her. Unless, you'd like to come with me and keep our various original alliances blended - I trust Demetri with Holly. I'm willing to listen to what you all have to say. And refresh my memory, but is Wallace in any alliance with any of us?" (visible to wren, eloise and demetri)

Holly didn't realize Wren had spoken, but realizing what he said she turned to respond.
"You're probably right, we can wait until we see what happens. How is the arm? Are you very injured?"

Wren tried not to show any signs of pain or weakness as he answered, "Well...it's not great. But I did something to provoke him, and I don't regret it. So this is just something I have to live with." He looked around the room again. "As we talk about staying/moving, should we also discuss long-term plans? If we ended up splitting, I'm not sure we'd be able to talk to meet up in the middle anywhere or reunite. But I do think it's important to know where our allies are going and to work together as much as possible. I just wish we could have contact with Millie. She'd know what's best for us to do, especially without Dante present." To Holly, Eloise, Demetri: I'm alright at combat, spying, and hacking. I can scavenge if I need to, but it's a little harder for me. I can definitely help protect Eloise or anyone else around if I need to, but some of it depends on luck... I've been pretty averagely lucky so far today. I'd like to get my hands on a weapon for self-defense, but attacking isn't my first instinct. I fear that's going to have to change at some point, though. And as bad as this sounds, I'd really like to catch up with Cal. We made a pact. He's on our side, as much as he can be. I know he'll have some info for any of us if we found him. As for my arm...well, let's just say I'm not starting this war in the same condition as you all. And no, Wallace was never added. Sharlot was an original Phoenix Accord member, and she pushed for him without much info to back it up so we never really approved him. I fear she gave him the passcode to our alcove meeting place, so who knows what info he's gotten. This makes me feel neither are that reliable, but we'll see. I know Eloise wanted to trust them, though...he's her district mate, so I'm not sure how much info she has on him...Eloise? (Also, Demetri, thanks for the trust, man. Means a lot coming from you.)

Eloise had been thinking to herself. "How about this, Holly and Demetri, go ahead and head to the Armory. See if you can get more than one weapon a piece. The three of us will try and get as much food as possible. Then tomorrow night, you guys come back here with whatever weapons you find, and the three of us will head to the Armory. The next night we'll come back here. That way, we're all able to get some food and arm ourselves. Hopefully by that time Dante will be back and we can split up if we need to to cover more ground." She looked around at the group hoping that her ideas would lead to something meaningful and not just separating them for no reason. Sharlot did bring Wallace in to our Alcove. I'll see if I can follow him and glean anything that could help us.

Wren shook his head. "So we'd be staying here for 3 days in a row, then? I mean, food is great, but I DO need some other supplies that I'm sure won't just pop up here tomorrow. And like I said before, I'm not committing to any plan until I have more information. I do like where you're going with the supplying/sharing bit, though. I know you mean well, Eloise. I just can't say I'll follow that plan until I know more. Don't forget, we're going to have to hack multiple points. So, some movement is going to be required, especially if any of our allies don't make it past the first few days. I'd like to talk to other allies at some point as well. I'm sure everyone is gaining some good information that would be helpful in the long run."
Wren didn't want to offend Eloise. He still cared about her as though she was his sister, but he couldn't allow himself to blindly commit to any plan right now. "So, feel free to keep giving out ideas though. I'll listen."

Wallace's eyes flickered almost unnoticeable when Holly asked him what he had a knack for. "Ive worked with the capitol systems before since I was in 6 and I worked on the hovercrafts and trains with my father. It's easy for me to over ride most systems." Wallace shrugged "I'm going to do what I can to secure this area with that talent, and to help keep us safer in light of an attack from others." Wallace stared at Holly and opened his mouth to say something, but declined. Instead he turned to listen to what Eloise had to say. He shook his head. "I want to think we could do that, but Demetri made a good point, the others will all be headed here next, and if we send some of us off and the rest come and find only the three of us here? It would be a mighty risk."

Then where do people want to go? Cause we could split into two groups and have one leave tonight, and one leave tomorrow. That way we can try and control two zones at any given time, and if Dante did make his way here tomorrow someone would still be here.

"Well so far it looks like everyone here is trustworthy. Beanie's slick hacking abilities confirms he's a rebel and while I was checking out Gorgeous found out she's a rebel, too." "So I'm for Gorgeous' plan. We've got a sizeable squad here and if we split up we can control two command points. No sense of keeping all five of us here. I doubt there's many Peacekeepers who know who each other are so I don't think we have to worry about encountering a large force. So I think me, Career, and Beanie should head out to the Armory to pick up some weapons and Beanie can help us take over the command point. Chatty and Gorgeous, you guys think you can hold down the market with just the two of you and wait for Dante?" "Eloise, can you confirm that Holly is a rebel?"

Wren was pleased with the information he'd learned over the past day. He approached Wallace and placed a hand on his shoulder. "Hey man...I'm sorry I doubted you. I know you probably just followed us here because of Eloise, but we were worried about you cutting off Dante. You couldn't have known. It's alright. Thanks for helping us out in this mess. We're glad to have you." Wren realized what he'd hoped was a scone in the dark of the night was actually a weird-shaped rock, but hopefully his new rag-tag team would be generous if he began to starve. "I thought of a really interesting idea, for where to go from here. But first I'd like to swap some info in case you've snooped around at all. After I learn what you guys have found out, I'll share my plan with everyone. Sorry. Just have to be sure, you know?" Wren caught Eloise, Wallace, and Demetri in a corner. "So, what did you guys learn by spying? Wallace checks out. He's good. (Sorry again, man..you were just so mysterious.) I'd like to think all 3 of us hacked for rebels, but it could have been 2-1...after you share, I'll give out my plan of movement to the whole group."

Wren realized he'd been scheming too long and almost missed what Demetri had said. "Oh... sorry. I didn't mean to speak over you, man."
Wren decided this was enough information to go off of and to give out his own idea, which wasn't too different from Demetri's...I think I like the way this guy thinks, after all...
He let out a big sigh and spoke, "I think it'd almost be more beneficial to split between armory and watchtower, then everyone returns to the market day 3. After that, we can all move as one giant group in whichever direction-or split the opposite way we went the first time. I know some of our supposed allies ran to the watchtower, so if any stick around, we could get to know who they really are. That way, no one's stuck in the market for 3 days in a row (assuming Demetri's plan would involve armory crew returning to market day 3 anyway to find the rest and possibly Dante. And...from what I know of Dante, I think there's as much chance of him staying in armory or going to the Depot than coming to the market. I know this was his plan, but he's good at adjusting. And maybe some of us would run into him day 3. I'm also hoping watchtower has some more useful things besides food."
"So, alternative to Demetri's plan, same groups head to armory and watchtower, meet up back here day 3, and we all move together from there or split again. Thoughts?"
|
|
|
Post by Demetri Messer on Dec 21, 2015 7:59:26 GMT -6
"Only issue is if we leave the market empty, then any single peacekeeper can walk in and take it back. If someone was willing to stay behind alone, at least they could add some competition to the hacking if anyone else shows up. And I don't think it's risky to be alone for one day. Anyone coming in will want to spy first before striking."
"And moving as one giant group could either be best plan ever or it could be a disaster. By moving in a group we can instantly kill any Peacekeepers we find. Though if the majority of the rebels are all in one place that means the Peacekeepers will likely have an advantage in hacking 4 of the command points. So is our strategy to win by force, or by holding 3 command points every day?"

Post by Wren Hartwood on Dec 21, 2015 8:10:00 GMT -6
Wren nodded slowly at what Demetri was saying. "Those are good points. So, either Eloise and I would split for a day with her staying and holding market and me in the watchtower, or we'd both stay for a day together. Regardless, I do agree you guys should head to armory. I'm not always openly sentimental, but I'll admit, it's going to be hard to part with you guys after this long day together." Wren looked down and laughed. "This...has been a much better place for me than back home. Thanks for not beating the shit out of me."
"So whatever we decide, just everyone stay safe. Eloise, what do you think? Should we stay here together or split? I'm almost warming up to Demetri's plan more, now, especially because I didn't end up finding any food...but I want to know what you think after finding out all this info."
"And personally, I think control points would be more in line with my beliefs, but if we spied enough to know who to attack for sure, we could potentially take this by force. I can't tell which would be faster..."

Holly laughed at Wren's comment about not having his ass kicked. The day is young, Chatty. But I don't think you're in much danger. After listening to the others, Holly decided it was time to speak.
"Wallace, I didn't have a reason to doubt you. But, I didn't have a reason to trust you either. Looks like you're on our side - you're good with me. We had a plan you couldn't have known about and your presence raised some eyebrows. That's all."
"I was hoping to be honest to head to the Watchtower at some point and touch base with our allies. Unfortunately, with Wren injured I think it might be a better idea for him to head there and hope that their proximity to the hospital might give him a better chance at getting some morphling. Wren, if that is possible, see if you can bring some back - just in case Demetri and I run into some trouble. It's a long shot, but worth saying."
"Wallace, Eloise - I think you should stay here for now with Wallace. Protect the market. Or, Eloise go to the Watchtower with Wren. Demetri and I should move to the Armory, and I want to go to the supply depot as well, just in case there's anything of use to us. I'm pretty sure if we can find anything there it would be a huge help to us. It will take us longer to get back but we may run into Dante."
She looked at the tributes before her. Not what I planned back in that maintenance closet but not too shabby.
"Thoughts?"

"That's not bad, either. I do think that before we all split, we should also confirm a long-term plan. If we did Holly's suggestion, we could both move out for two days (maybe someone staying at market), having covered every area, and backtrack to market for day 5."
"OR if some of us stayed here for a day while armory crew leaves, and then market staying crew moves to watchtower day 3, we'd all be able to meet up at the hospital day 4 and continue planning from there."
Wren thought this last idea seemed like the best mix of plans for everyone, and he also thought meeting together at some point would be beneficial, to trade information and catch up on what's happening at both sides of the city. "IF we win this thing...I'd also like to push for any rebel/accord-siding peacekeepers to be pardoned. But I'm not sure we have control over that."
"Other thoughts?" He glanced around.

"I think we should meet back here, leaving someone behind who can scavenge for food consistently and keep control. When we come back with our supplies, we can redistribute food right when we're sure to be running low - and possibly grab more on our way over to the Watchtower and close enough that we can touch base with them. Whoever goes there also needs to make sure they know our plan. If you're headed toward the Watchtower they can tell us what's going on at the Hospital - if we plan to move there as a meetup in a few days we'd be going in blind. I don't like that. Let's meet back here."
