The morning before the launch into the arena Alicia's head was spinning. She rolled out of bed and dragged her feet to the kitchen where she downed a couple glasses of water. She looked around at the messy hotel room. Cups were littered across every surface, the tray of food had tipped off the table at some point, and the playing cards were scattered on the ground between the living room chairs. It was a sign of a good party.
Ox's door was open so she peeked inside to see he was still in bed. She quietly approached the bed and crawled in with him, curling up against him.
"Today's the last good day," she said, not sure if he was awake.

Ox rolled over barely conscious and wrapped his big arms around Alicia and pulled her close grumbling sleepily.
"Yeah." He squeezed her close and breathed out his nose deeply letting the sunlight gleam through his bedroom window. Ox was going to take his time waking today, and it was nice to have company.
"You ok?" He said opening one eye and looking down at Alicia.

Alicia felt like she should be crying, but for the first time she couldn't. She wanted to say something, but felt like everything had been said. "Yeah I'm okay," she replied finally. She rolled over to face Ox. "I think I'm ready."

Ox was awake now.
He looked out the window and then back.
"I think I'm ready too." Ox hugged her like she was the only anchor that kept him from floating into the sky and into the stars above.
"we should eat as much as we can" Ox said grinning now. "Lets order a big breakfast!"

Alicia nodded her head in agreement. Nothing could be more important than entering the Hunger Games with a full stomach. She threw the covers off and sat up.
“Come on!” she said excitedly. “It’s going to be like the cornucopia down in the cafeteria! We’ve got to fight through those buffet lines!”
