V enters the massive house tentatively. The elaborate stone work and mouldings unlike anything she's ever seen before. She takes in the magnificent view then closes her eyes and breathes deep. "*sniiiiiiff-ha* Nice. Different, but nice." she says and she crosses the threshold. The main foyer of the mansion splits off to several rooms. One of the rooms off to the left seemed to be a bar or lounge of some sort and V noticed a woman standing at the bar ordering a drink. She was about to head over and introduce herself when a familiar and captivating aroma caught her nose. The scent embraced her and held her tight beckoning her to a room straight ahead from the main entrance. She found herself at the door to an immense banquet hall and her eye was immediately caught by the giant trays of steaming meats and freshly prepared produce. As she approaches she spies a platter with roasted leg of venison with potatoes and carrots. She takes and entire tray over to the nearest corner table, sets the platter down, takes a quick survey around the room to verify that she is indeed alone, and takes a giant bite right out of the leg. Juices and gravy run down her chin as she lets another mouthful of meat slide down her gullet. Realizing she hasn't got anything to drink, she starts for the buffet again.

Having eaten her fill, V's calculative mind returned to its full acuity. The tributes from the poorer districts would most likely meet in the dining hall at one point or another, so she'd try to stick around as near as she could. She was one of the only people in the mansion at this point so she figured it wouldn't hurt do do a little exploring. She remembered the woman in the bar she'd seen on her way in, and concluded this knot of food in her stomach could use a digestif.

Ayla entered the banquet hall to be greeted with a vast feast before her. She began filling her plate until it nearly overflowed. Where was everyone? With the excitement of the parade over, Ayla thought that more tribute would be ready to refuel. Ayla say alone at a table and began to eat.

Arnie stepped into the banquet hall and found a staggering arrangement of meats and other delicacies that he had only dreamed of. Though he wasn't convinced that this much food was necessary he was thankful to have it. After filling his plate he looked for a place to sit. Strangely, the choice was simpler than he thought. Ayla Farrow was the only one there so he may as well get to know her first.
Arnie sat across from Ayla, and tried to think about how to start eating this mountain of food.
"What a feast! I never imagined I would see anything quite like it." Arnie said as he started to eat a selection of roasted beets and root vegetables with a sizeable portion of roasted duck. It wasn't often he got this much choice.

As Arnie came to join Ayla, she was glad to have some company.
"It certainly is delicious! You must try the risotto, it's to die for." She looked down awkwardly after realizing the literality of her last sentence. "Err... I mean it's really good."
"Anyway... Nice to meet you, my name's Ayla." She extended her hand.

The room seemed to be gradually filling up with tributes, sponsors and all sorts of important-looking people. It took most of Tristan's willpower to not keep adding more oranges, roasted groosling and chocolate-covered palmberries to his plate!
Noticing a familiar face, he sat with the burgeoning group of tributes and smiled.
"Hoy, everyone!" He said with a gravelly voice. "I'm Tristan Danio, and I don't meet new people often; so I may have trouble remembering names at first. Still learning these ropes..."
Nodding towards Arnie, Tristan started to peel an orange with practiced hands.
"District Nine, right? I remember you were the ones tossing out bread off the chariot like jetsam. It fit the bill though, heard good mumblings about it with the criers."
In moments the orange had been peeled, sectioned and devoured as Tristan began ravaging the food.

Ayla addressed Tristan. "Hey I'm Ayla." She didn't like being ignored - but it seemed the Capitol was a man's world after aswell.
"How are you guys feeling about the upcoming games?"

Arnie shook hands with Ayla, "It's nice to meet you as well, I am Arnie Thistle from District 9. I must have gotten lost in the food!"
Hoping he could patch that up later he extended a hand to Tristan, "Thank you, though I must say that compared to mine the two of you each made a splash!"

"World of difference between this one and last year's!" Joked Tristan, slicing roasted groosling into neat squares on his plate. He smiled at Ayla and took note of the subtle way her arms flexed as she took another taste of risotto. The young captain could recognize arms that could hoist a netting line and which ones would lose the day's catch. The District Five tribute looked able to hoist half a trawler's load!
After shaking hands with Arnie, Veronica and Ayla, he dug into the succulent groosling squares cut small enough to not impede the conversation. "I don't remember seeing you during the chariot entrances, Ayla. Must have been close after District Four, so Avalon and I missed it. If your costume was anything like ours though, you're probably happy to be out of it!"
Nodding toward Arnie between bites of his dinner, Tristan gave a throaty chuckle. "Yeah, we 'Made a splash' alright. It's all our Lead Designer kept saying that to anyone involved! Stops being clever the fifteenth time..."
Glancing around toward the assembled tributes, Tristan leaned back in the chair and gestured toward Veronica.
"What's your tale, Veronica? Ayla, Arnie and I were picked to be here, but you volunteered. Aside from the food and pleasant company, why lay anchor in this storm?"

V took a second to wipe a smidgen of grease from the corner of her mouth before answering. "Well, I've spent most of my life in the same small patch of woods, so I wanted to see the world for a while. This seemed like a good way to get to the capitol where I've heard all the action is."

Ayla nodded to Arnie. "No worries, I've never seen the likes of this food either! " she helped herself to more stuffed dates.
She then turned to Tristan. "Ya, I'm glad the parade is over with. I hate trying to compete for the center of attention. I can't wait to get out if the Capitol, even if it means starting the games. This place just isn't for me." It was generally true, though that didn't prevent her from filling a dessert plate from brim to brim.
"V, right?" She said as she turned to Veronica. "Is that what we should call you or is that a special name for friends?

Actually I really don't know if my name is Veronica, or Vivian or Vladimir, or if it even starts with a 'v' at all, it's just all I've ever been known as, soo... "You can just call me V, it's what I'm used to. You're from District Five right? I saw you at the Tribute Parade. You should smile more often, you have a very pretty smile. Um would you pass the salt, please?"

Lane McGreer walked up to the table, standing between Ayla and Veronica and placing his hands on their shoulders.
"Well who do we have here?" he said with a bright smile. "So this is where all the tributes have been hiding! Come on, there's plenty of time for sitting and eating in the hotel. Up on your feet! There are so many folks I need to introduce you to and much dancing to be done!"
"Ms. Farrow!" he said now turning his attention to the red-haired girl to his left. "Wonderful presentation in the parade today! The catch was a bit shaky, but I must say you looked absolutely graceful floating through the air. In fact, would you accompany me to the dance floor? I should like to see what other moves you've been hiding up your sleeves. Ha ha!"

Seizing the moment as Lane McGreer distracted everyone from the table, Arnie quickly picked up his things and headed in the direction of the Billiard Room. Now that he had eaten his fill he wanted to see what kind of wonders he could find.

Ayla was surprised by Lane's invitation. She was not used to people paying her any attention. She extended her hand and said "Absolutely." She followed him to the dance floor, waving goodbye to the other tributes.

Ox walked in and saw a multitude of people, he tried his best to smile warmly with a tiny wave of his hulking arm and made his way over the the table with all of the food, stacked his plate high with as much meat as he could and went to find a nice seat to sit and enjoy bulking up. He was already getting bigger than he had ever been back in district 11 and he meant for the sponsors to notice.
He had chairs open next to him and he tried his best to give off a friendly vibe, but he ended up feeling like he was just smiling while chewing a bunch of meat and awkwardly making too much eye contact.

Jaffe slowly approaches Jorn. "Umm... Hello," she says shyly taking a seat next to him. "I really liked your parade outfit! The plants in your hair made you look... pretty," she blushed, "Sorry, I can't think of the world. Anyway, I think some people are scared if you, but I can tell your really nice," she says smiling. "This is blunt but I think we could be great friends."

Derrick poked his head through the doorway, a smile lighting up on his face as finally found the food. He beelined towards the buffet table and loaded his plate up with a conspicuous amount of meat and a small amount of other dishes that looked fairly good. Looking around he saw a sponsor leading a group away and a couple other tributes that seemed to just be settling down. He shrugged and made his way over, noting the male tribute seemed like he knew what manual labor was about, much like himself.
Sitting down Derrick said, "So much food, so little time," before taking a mouthful of something that tasted a little like chicken. "Dude, your huge. What district are you from again?"

Yun's plate was almost taller than he was. Heaped to the brim with multicolored pastas, and an assortment of meats, he wished he could say that his ravenous appetite was an act, growing up the youngest, smallest, and least impressive of a group of siblings meant he always got the smallest portions. In the worst food. This was heaven. And after he ate so much that his stomach was to bursting, he looked around the room. He should be talking with some of the tributes. In the contest, the tributes were more important than sponsors to him. He glanced around to see who we could sway, who looked dangerous, who would be the most useful to know. Surprisingly, he had no idea. Glancing around the room he saw two girls talking, Veronica and Ayla. He walked towards them quickly before tripping over his own feet and spilling the remainder of his pasta around them
