It seems your luck has finally turned around! The next room is a giant prairie with cool winds, plenty of open space, and calm herd of delicious-looking oxen grazing on the green grass. Suddenly there’s a loud bang, upsetting the herd and sending them charging towards you! There’s no time to think -- you’ll have to run!
Run for it

At first, Ayla was excited to see a nice open prairie. Finally, time to relax! Just as she began to relax, a stampede of oxen came running towards her. She didn't have to be the fastest to get around them... she just couldn't be the slowest.

Ayla watched as Tristan tried to make his way through the stampede. It wasn't pretty. As much as it was painful to watch him stumble, she could only think that this opened up a better opportunity for her Seth, she knew how hard these challenges were for him with his leg. She yelled across to her district mate "Common Seth! You've got this!"

Seth fought through the tangle of ropes Tristan had thrown over him. The herd was closing in and the others had already gotten a head start. Don’t panic, he thought. Keep your cool and figure out these knots. Seth took a deep breath and worked his way through the knots.
At last he was free from the trap, but he was running out of time. Ayla was out of sight and Tristan was stumbling after her. Despite his handicap, Seth felt he had a chance to catch up with the others.
“Come on, legs! If there was ever a time to prove yourself, it’s now!”

Seth’s legs were not cooperating. The herd was upon him and his knees trembled in fear. He collapsed to the ground. There was no way Seth was going to outrun the herd. But maybe with a swift jump he could grab on to one of the oxen and ride it to safety. He only had one shot.

Seth tumbled to the ground again and a huge ox charged straight at him.
In Seth’s mind the herd became the riot in District 5. Seth was left helpless on the street as the rioters broke through the police line and trampled him and the other peacekeepers. Their stomping feet crushed his body and his legs. Seth cried out for help, but the mob was way beyond control. He was left for dead.
Had the Game Makers deliberately planned to make him relive his worst memory?

"Seth!" Ayla shouted. God no. No! This could not be the end of him. He looked badly injured... but how badly had he been hurt before? Ayla knew he had had a bit of trouble with some of the obstacles back in the West... but had he not taking morphling.
She ran to him lying on the ground where the stampede had left him immobilized.
"Seth, please. No. No! Hang in there, don't leave me."

Ayla wailed. Seth was unresponsive. His end was untimely. "Sweet Seth," she whispered "you were the kindest person to me in the games. Though I cannot repay the help you gave me, if I win the games I swear to take care of the old lady who took care of you back in 5. I wish we had more time together, there was so much that was left unsaid."
She laid a flower she had found in his arms. She squeeze his arms, kissed his cheek and left.

What Seth didn’t realize was when he had jumped, his peacekeeper badge fell out of his pocket, bounced on the ground and landed with the pin pointing straight up. By sheer luck, the ox that was about to collide with him stepped directly on the pin, causing it to rear up in pain. The other oxen diverted around it, creating a small pocket of space for Seth to get up and start running again.
Cal Mensen: I believe you edit the post. You can either rewhisper to everyone (too much work), or copy and paste the whispers into public text. I'd imagine you'd want to give some sort of symbol or notation that they were once whispers.

Cal Mensen: Same here, part of me wants to allocate some time aside to building a new one in a different setting. It'd be easier to devote time to if there's a shard interest.
