Day 3

Post by Jaden Fox on Aug 13, 2013 18:59:03 GMT -6
The five members of the Primrose accord sat huddled in David's tiny shelter, none of them daring to fall asleep. Most of the independent tributes had already been taken out in the first two days. If they were going to encounter anyone, it would likely be an alliance. And so they stayed close and stayed watchful for any signs of movement as their island slowly sank into the sea. Jaden was restless.
"Guys," he said aloud, being the first to speak in several hours. "We need to make a decision. We can stay here where we have fresh water or we can search for a more resourceful island. These sinking platforms won't last more than another day or two. Maybe we can even split up. Some people can stay here and sandbag while others go west to see if there's herbs or animals and then sandbag that island too. There's enough of us where we can divide up the work and reap the benefits of two islands. What do you guys think?"

David, paler than ever before, was crouched with the rest of the group as Jaden broke the dense silence of the second night.
"I'm a bit apprehensive about splitting up. Know that. If we have to though, I volunteer to go. If we do fall into a dreary situation I'd like us to have some medicines on hand. That said, we just got back together. Lets not split up just yet."
David tries to adjust himself on the rocky ground. He can find no relief.

Kimber's stomach growled. She closed her eyes and blocked out the hunger pains. She's gone longer without food before. It wasn't a hard thing to block out of her mind anymore.
"I saw Talia over to the west. In case that matters. She could have moved by now, but that island looked like it was going to last longer than this one. She might have stayed. I didn't look around too much other than that, though the hunting seemed like it might be better. I don't mind splitting up as long as we stay in contact, like one person go back and forth each day."

Almost as if on cue the thundering sound of the cannon echoes across the arena and they look up at the false sky and see Talia's face.
"Are you sure nobody else was over there Kimber? If we head west we should be prepared for an encounter. We should all take a stealthy approach."

Kimber frowned. It was a bit unsettling for her to have just seen someone the other day and now she would never see them again.
"Like I said, she was the only one I saw. She could have moved somewhere else and someone or something was waiting for her. Either way we might run into them or it sometime. Staying or moving wouldn't be much of a difference, but if anything that just means we should stick together. Especially if there's another alliance around."
Kimber hesitated. She had never meant to be so involved in the planning. She shifted a bit uncomfortably.

Millie groaned. She wasn't used to a diet of bread and water from ponds but she wasn't about to look a gift horse in the mouth. She looked around and the scene was sort of grim. People were talking about splitting up.
Millie looked around the room, "splitting up is a bad idea. We trade the possibility of more resources for the fact that apart we are more easily taken down." She shifted on the hard ground, "I don't think we should split up but I don't think this is somewhere we should call home just yet either."
Millie took a look down at the hard piece of bread she was holding in her hand and then looked up at the tired grim faces of children who had been forced into an arena of death. This wasn't how it was supposed to be.
Millie smiled at her other tributes, "So how are you guys. I feel like its been forever since we sat down and talked. And I'd rather talk with my friends about ANYTHING then just sit here in this deafening silence."

Jaden was deep in thought trying to concoct some sort of battle plan when Millie spoke up. Talk? Jaden hadn't even thought about just talking since he got into the arena. But, it sounded sort of nice to not think about their inevitable death for a while.
"Yeah me, too," he replied. "We should, you know, get to know each other a bit more while we still have the chance."

Millie smiled coyly, "the more you know someone the harder it is to leave them behind ya know." She chuckled, "also I've just kinda wanted to know you guys as more than an accord. Lay it on the line." She glanced over at the pale and (possibly) asleep David. "For instance," she added, "I'd really like to know what David's story is. But first things first."
Millie smiled, "ice cream what do you think about it?"

Day 3

Post by Mallory Sharpe on Aug 14, 2013 6:52:12 GMT -6
Mallory was exhausted. Her own search for food and water had been useless and now she was only around because of her teammates. Not a very good start to the games. Despite her best efforts, she kept drifting in and out of sleep while the rest of the team planned. She shook her head. Time to snap out of it Mallory. You can sleep when you're dead.
Standing up, she addressed the group. "I think we should stick together. We aren't hunting deer in the woods, we're hunting kids like us, some of whom have trained years for this. They want to kill us, and if they have a chance to pick us off one by one, they will without hesitation." Nerves and adrenaline began to course through her body. She hadn't felt this angry since her mother died a few years ago. "I've been hunting all my life, and let me tell you something, the easiest way to hunt an animal that runs in packs is to separate the group and take down the weaker ones. If we go our different ways, we'll be helping the other teams do just that."
Mallory was shaking at this point with anger. She hadn't expected to make friends here. She hadn't wanted to make friends here. But she had, and though she was scared, she didn't want her friends to die like animals in the dirt. Looking from face to face, she caught Millie give her a smile, and Mallory cracked. I don't want us to die.She thought to herself as tears began to stream down her face. Please don't let me die!

Post by David Spanial on Aug 14, 2013 8:50:13 GMT -6
As David lay on the uncomfortable ground he couldn't help but realize the absurdity of the situation that they were in. A group of children huddled around in a measly shelter on a sinking island inside of a deadly arena where everything around them tries to kill them. Ridiculous!
"Talking can help relieve stress." said David in his scratchy tired voice. His breathing is deep and slow.
"You guys are probably wondering why I look so sick all the time. I know I don't look it, but I'm actually fine. The coughing, the tiredness, the sweating. Those are all ailments from the past. Ailments that I try to keep in check. With this."
David raises up his little vial of oil which is down to the last couple drops.
"I only have a days worth left. That's why I'd like to move on to the next island. I need to make more of my elixir. It's not morphling, no. I've seen what that does to people. So when I was younger, when someone I loved was sick... I, uh... I tried to make an alternative..."
David grew silent for a second. His face had lost all expression. He simply stared blankly a million miles into the distance. His mind was lost in thought.
"Uh, as I was making the first batches of oils, naturally I would test them out on myself. The formula started out very simple. It was when I became more ambitious that the problems arose. In my feverish toils I began to grow careless... But in the end, my efforts proved futile."
"She died... And I was left looking for relief..."
David starts to cough. He still can not find a comfortable position.

Millie stared at her team mates aghast this was supposed to have brightened up the mood but all it seemed to be doing was making everyone dwell on misfortunes in the past.
"Uh guys?", Millie ventured, "I mean we're all alive now. Right?" She chuckled nervously. "Um maybe we should go over some strategy for tomorrow?" She hoped this would break up the mood. "And maybe later we could have a fire and tell ghost stories I mean if we're stuck here why make the best of it?"
Two seconds later Millie realized that perhaps ghost stories were not the best thing to cheer people up.
"But first we should get some and down right? We don't want to lose each other again right?"

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to be so dreary. But you're right Millie, maybe we should talk strategy."
Just then Mallory spoke, and David noticed the frog in her throat.
"Mallory, what's wrong?"
