The escaped tributes proved to be more dangerous than the president had anticipated. This had gone on long enough. The Capitol would not be made a fool of. The president issued a state of emergency and sent battalions of Peacekeepers armed with rifles and riot shields into the streets of the Capitol. The tributes were swiftly located and outnumbered.
The handcuffed tributes are led onto the runway where the tribute parade normally took place but today everyone had gathered for a different sort of display. In the middle of the road were eight 7-foot-tall poles, each with a short chain hanging from the top. The tributes were each made to stand in front of a pole. Peacekeepers lifted each tributes arms above their heads and linked their cuffs to the short chain.
The President enters and announces,
“Wren Hartwood, Holly Edison, Gwendolyn Fisk, Thomas Windsnip, Cal Mensen, Valeria De’Masque, and Sydney Gardiner you are hereby sentenced to death for your acts of murder, terrorism, attempted escape from the Hunger Games, destruction of Capitol property, and treason.”
From the other side of the driveway two Peacekeepers assist Vester, now covered in burns and cuts, to the eith and final pole.
“Vester Lombard you are hereby sentenced to death for sabotaging the Hunger Games, unauthorized use of arena hazards, destruction of Capitol property, and inciting a rebellion.”
“May you all be an example to Panem as to what happens to traitors who attempt to defy our great nation. Peacekeepers, raise your weapons. May your aim be true.”
The Peacekeepers raise their rifles.

BLAM!
"That was a warning shot!" a familiar voice rang out as a shell narrowly missed their ship.
Suddenly from over the rooftops the shiny chrome exterior of a peacekeeper hovercraft came into view. "The foods gonna have to wait," Millie shouted to Agni, "right now we have to take care of the welcoming committee!"
On cue the peacekeepers down below turned to aim their rifles at their hull. "Agni we're gonna have to take care of those peacekeepers," another large shell whizzed past the cockpit, "...and that antiaircraft gun too before I can get down to the tributes without risking serious damage to this hovercraft."
She motioned to the large turret on the back of the hovercraft, "go man that and take out of them as you can."
"Shit!" Millie yelled as yet another anti aircraft shell nearly missed their hovercraft, "we're not going to be able to do anything about those big guns from up here. So, try to take out as many of the peacekeepers as possible...I have a plan!"
"I'm gonna take us down as close as possible real quick," she grinned, "and leave these tributes a little present..."
Millie threw back the throttle and sent the hovercraft into a dive straight at the chained up tributes, "hold on tight Agni we're only gonna get one shot at this!"
At the last second the hovercraft took a sharp turn back towards the sky causing a crate to fall off the back and smash in front of the tributes. Out of the crate tumbled a bow, a shot of adrenaline, and an HK91 Rifle.
"Alright Agni!" She yelled over the engines roar, "Take out that firing squad and let's hope those tributes can knock out that artillery!"
Millie knew asking the tired and starving tributes to take out anti aircraft artillery was asking a bit much...but right now she was just going to have to believe in them.

"The hell're you- Oh, no. No. No!" Agni's head slammed back against the padded copilot's chair as Millie dove the hovercraft into the massive runway of the execution before pulling up inches off the ground. "Agh! Little warnin' next time!" "Way 'head of you, Ms. Cartwright!" The victor shouted, fingers gripping the turret controls. Stunned peacekeepers had begun to open fire on the hovercraft, their bullets denting and cracking the cockpit's window. Agni felt the hovercraft jolt with every shot fired from the twin turret's massive barrels. He swept his targeting reticle across the line of executioners, and grimaced as they were cut down in a haze of debris and blood.
"Not much left of 'em, Millie. Great job holdin' this thing steady!"
Agni scanned the area through the turret control screen; his eyes narrowing as he noticed Vester chained along with the remaining tributes.
It'd be so easy, Lombard. Agni's finger brushed the turret's trigger; its reticle centered on the Game Maker. Finally gettin' justice for Leevy.
A flash caught his vision, sunlight glinted off the blade of his bloodstained axe.
Yeah, that'd be too quick for 'em. Like to use what he gave me instead.

INSTRUCTIONS: Write the story of how your tribute escapes from the execution and gets to the hovercraft. You will write 3 posts responding to the 3 challenges below, each of them including a die roll for any action, adding your skill bonuses as usual. Your action can be anything you want it to be. No matter what your roll is, assume you have advanced on to the next challenge. The value of your roll determines whether it was a narrow escape or an extreme success. Roleplay accordingly. The object is just to tell the best story possible. I will take all of these stories and pick a combination of the best-written posts and highest rolls to determine who actually comes out alive and who dies at each challenge. The final composited story of what actually happened will be read aloud at the Thirst Games party. TOP SECRET INSTRUCTIONS FOR CAL, SYDNEY AND VAL: Because your team lost you are not allowed to survive. Write the story of how your tribute dies while trying to escape or aiding others in their escape. You will write 1 post with 1 die roll. I will at most only use a few sentences or a brief paragraph from your story, so the more concise, the better.
Challenge #1: Escape the Cuffs.Write one paragraph about how your tribute escapes the cuffs, whether by resourcefulness, skillfulness, luck, or any other creative solution. Challenge #2: The Cornucopia.Millie and Agni’s hovercraft has dropped a Rifle, Bow, and Adrenaline Shot in the middle of the runway. Write one paragraph describing your mad dash for an item as you fight off or escape any Peacekeepers in the way. Challenge #3: Boss Fight. As you try to disable the anti-aircraft gun, Vester engages you in combat. Write one paragraph describing your fight, using your weapon, item, or any creative solution. Then make a mad dash for the hovercraft to escape to safety! Deadline is Wednesday at 11:00 PM CT. May the odds be ever in your favor.
